Dental crown cost in Vietnam
Zirconia, E.max, and PFM crown pricing across the five SmileJet Vietnamese cities, with AUD, NZD, and GBP comparisons.
By SmileJet Editorial Team · Updated May 2026
A zirconia dental crown in Vietnam costs A$413–428 depending on city, compared with A$1,800–2,400 at an Australian dentist — a saving of A$1,372–1,987 per tooth. E.max (lithium disilicate) crowns are in the same price band as zirconia: A$413–428. PFM (porcelain-fused-to-metal) crowns are the most affordable option at A$266–275 per tooth. All five SmileJet Vietnamese cities handle crowns within a standard 3–5 day single-trip schedule, with some complex cases extending to 5–7 days. The ceramic materials used — Ivoclar E.max blocks, Kuraray Noritake zirconia — are the same global standards used in Australian labs.

Which crown type is right for your case?
Recommended for all positions, especially molars and premolars where bite force is highest. Monolithic zirconia is the current standard for posterior crowns — strong, tooth-coloured, and long-lasting. Multi-layer zirconia (more translucent) is available for anterior teeth where aesthetics matter.
Recommended for upper front teeth (incisors and canines) where translucency and lifelike aesthetics are critical. Slightly lower fracture resistance than zirconia — not advised for patients with heavy bite force or bruxism in posterior positions. The default choice for high-aesthetic anterior crown work at top-tier SmileJet partner clinics.
Still requested by some patients, and suitable for posterior use. Lower cost than all-ceramic options. The main limitation: a grey metal margin can become visible at the gumline over time as gum tissue recedes. Less common in new treatment plans at top-tier clinics, where zirconia has largely replaced PFM for comparable cost.
Crowns within a broader treatment — what to factor in
A root-canalled tooth has a weakened structure and requires a crown to prevent fracture. Add A$413–428 for a zirconia crown on top of the root canal fee. Total root canal plus crown in Vietnam: A$597–703 for an anterior tooth to A$703 for a molar, versus A$2,600–3,900 in Australia.
The implant abutment crown is a separate cost from the implant fixture. SmileJet implant package pricing typically includes the zirconia crown — but always confirm at quote stage whether the crown is bundled or itemised separately.
If a veneer fails and the tooth preparation depth allows, the treating dentist may recommend converting the veneer preparation to a full crown. A zirconia crown at A$413–428 is the usual pathway for such conversions.
Patients replacing multiple adjacent crowns (e.g. a full upper arch of 8–10 crowns) benefit from the low per-tooth cost in Vietnam significantly. 10 zirconia crowns at A$428 each totals A$4,280 versus A$18,000–24,000 in Australia.
5-city crown options — Da Nang, HCMC, Hanoi, Hoi An, Phu Quoc
All five SmileJet Vietnamese cities handle crowns within a standard single-trip schedule of 3–5 days: preparation and temporary crown on Day 1–2, lab fabrication during Days 2–4, and final fitting on Day 4–5. Complex cases — severely damaged substructure, post-and-core required, or multiple adjacent crowns requiring precise shade matching — may extend to 5–7 days.
- HCMC: Largest SmileJet network. Fastest lab turnaround (24–48h at top clinics). Best option for complex cases and multi-treatment trips.
- Da Nang: Lowest per-crown pricing. Beach-walk recovery during lab fabrication window. 23 verified clinics.
- Hanoi: Mid-range pricing. Cool dry winters (Oct–Apr) are popular for recovery. 25 verified clinics.
- Hoi An: Quiet heritage-town pace, ideal for patients wanting slow recovery during the lab window. Typically uses Da Nang-area labs. Lab turnaround slightly longer than HCMC.
- Phu Quoc: Island setting, visa-free for all nationalities. 6 verified clinics. Best for simpler single-crown or small multi-crown cases alongside a resort stay.

Choosing the right crown material
Zirconia: the posterior standard
Full-contour zirconia is the current standard for back teeth (premolars and molars) where bite force is highest. Zirconia is harder than E.max and more fracture-resistant under heavy occlusion. Modern monolithic zirconia (multi-layer, translucent) has significantly improved aesthetics compared to early opaque zirconia, making it usable even for anterior cases where translucency is valued.
E.max: the anterior standard
E.max lithium disilicate is the standard for front teeth (incisors and canines) where natural-looking translucency is the priority over maximum strength. E.max transmits light similarly to natural enamel, producing the most lifelike result for visible smile-zone teeth. For patients getting crowns on both front and back teeth, a common approach is E.max anteriorly and zirconia posteriorly.
PFM (porcelain-fused-to-metal): the budget option
PFM crowns use a metal substructure with a porcelain outer layer. Lower cost than zirconia or E.max but with two limitations: the metal margin can become visible as gum recedes over years; and the porcelain is more prone to chipping than monolithic zirconia. PFM is appropriate for back teeth where aesthetics is secondary and budget is the primary driver.
Same-day crown (CEREC): where available
A small number of SmileJet partner clinics operate in-house CEREC milling systems that produce a zirconia crown in a single appointment without a lab turnaround. This eliminates the need for a temporary crown and allows single-day crown completion. CEREC availability is clinic-specific; ask SmileJet whether your preferred city and clinic offer this option before booking.
