The 30-second verdict

All-on-4 in Vietnam costs US$6,500 to US$7,400 per arch across the five SmileJet partner cities, compared to A$24,000 to A$32,000 at a Sydney specialist using the same Nobel Biocare or Straumann components. The procedure places four titanium implants per arch to support a full fixed bridge, removing the need for an implant per tooth. Two trips are standard: the first for implant placement and a same-day provisional acrylic bridge (10 to 14 days), the second 4 to 6 months later for the permanent zirconia bridge (5 to 7 days). The typical single-arch saving, including two weeks of Vietnamese accommodation, is A$12,000 or more versus Sydney. For both arches it roughly doubles.

By material

What the bridge material changes

Every quoted case includes a same-day provisional acrylic bridge. The final bridge material drives the price difference between base and premium All-on-4.

Provisional acrylic (included)

Same-trip

Acrylic with metal reinforcement, fitted same-day as surgery. Stays in for 4 to 6 months while gums heal. Functional but not designed for hard chewing.

Final zirconia bridge

+US$1,500 to +US$2,800 over base

Hardest, most natural-looking, longest-lasting. Replaces the provisional at 6 months. Premium choice for All-on-4 patients.

Final titanium-supported acrylic-on-titanium (TAT)

+US$800 to +US$1,500 over base

Lighter than zirconia, easier to repair, slightly less premium aesthetics. Mid-range choice.

Final acrylic-on-titanium upgrade

Often included in base

Many partner clinics include the final acrylic bridge in the base case price; only zirconia upgrades carry an additional charge.

Total Vietnam pathA$11,868 to 15,518 vs Sydney specialist A$24,000 to 32,000

Candidacy and planning

Are you a candidate? Key planning questions

How is candidacy assessed before travel?

SmileJet coordinates a pre-travel assessment using your dental history, recent X-rays, and photographs. A CBCT 3D scan at your treating clinic on Day 1 provides the definitive bone-volume assessment. Most patients have sufficient bone for All-on-4 without grafting because the angled rear implants are placed in denser native bone zones. Patients with prior failed implants or significant bone loss may require additional assessment.

All-on-4 vs All-on-6: which is right?

All-on-4 uses four implants per arch. All-on-6 uses six, providing better load distribution across the arch and is recommended when bone volume comfortably supports six placements. All-on-6 costs US$1,500 to 3,000 more per arch in Vietnam and is the better long-term engineering solution where bone allows. Your treating dentist will advise which option is anatomically appropriate after the CBCT.

Zirconia upgrade: is it worth it?

Most base All-on-4 prices include a provisional acrylic bridge and a final acrylic or acrylic-on-titanium (TAT) permanent bridge. Zirconia is harder, more natural-looking, and longer-lasting. The upgrade costs US$1,500 to 2,800 per arch and is the recommended choice for most patients who plan on the restoration lasting 15 to 20 years. For patients on a tighter budget, the TAT final bridge is clinically adequate.

Planning the two-trip schedule

Trip 1 (10 to 14 days, Vietnam): implant placement, same-day provisional bridge, initial healing. Fly home. Three to four months of osseointegration at home. Trip 2 (5 to 7 days, Vietnam): CBCT to confirm integration, impressions, bridge fabrication (4 to 5 days), final fitting and bite adjustment. Most patients combine Trip 2 with tourism to justify the return flight. SmileJet pre-coordinates both trips in one planning session.

Frequently asked

All-on-4 Vietnam FAQ

How many implants does All-on-4 use and why only four?
All-on-4 uses four titanium implants per arch. Two are placed vertically at the front of the jaw; two are angled at 30 to 45 degrees toward the back. The angling maximises contact with available bone without requiring bone grafts in most patients, which is why the procedure is viable for patients with some bone loss. Four implants are sufficient to support a full fixed bridge because the angled rear implants distribute bite forces efficiently across the arch.
What is the difference between the provisional acrylic bridge and the final zirconia bridge?
The provisional acrylic bridge is fitted on the day of surgery or the day after. It is functional for eating and talking but is not designed for hard chewing: you eat soft foods for the 4 to 6 month healing period. The final zirconia bridge, fitted on the second trip after osseointegration, is the permanent restoration: harder, more natural-looking, and designed to last 15 to 20 years under normal use. Most base-case prices include the provisional acrylic; the zirconia upgrade costs an additional US$1,500 to US$2,800 per arch.
Can I get All-on-4 done in one trip to Vietnam, or does it require two trips?
Two trips are standard. The first trip (10 to 14 days) covers implant placement, same-day provisional bridge, and initial healing. You return home for 4 to 6 months while the implants integrate with your jawbone. The second trip (5 to 7 days) covers the permanent bridge fitting and final adjustments. Some clinics offer an immediate-load "same-day All-on-4" but this is only suitable where bone density and case anatomy allow: your treating dentist advises after the CBCT scan.
What happens if an implant fails after I return home?
All SmileJet partner clinics are backed by treatment coordination support. If a clinical issue arises after you return home, SmileJet liaises with your treating clinic and the wider partner network to help organise a review and any follow-up care, and can coordinate that follow-up at any of the five SmileJet Vietnamese partner cities rather than only your original clinic. The treating clinic determines the appropriate clinical remedy and any associated cost. Return flights are not covered; many patients combine follow-up care with a planned second trip.
Is All-on-4 in Vietnam covered by Australian health insurance?
Standard Australian private health insurance (dental extras) does not cover overseas treatment. Some policies cover emergency dental treatment abroad but not elective procedures like All-on-4. A small number of policies have specific overseas dental provisions: check your policy schedule. The out-of-pocket saving on Vietnam All-on-4 (A$12,000 to A$18,000+ per arch) is typically larger than any rebate you would receive in Australia anyway.
How do I choose between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City for All-on-4?
For All-on-4 specifically, both cities have protocol-aligned clinics stocking the same implant brands. The decision is mainly climate and recovery preference. Hanoi suits heat-sensitive patients visiting October to April: cool, dry, Old Quarter walking recovery. Ho Chi Minh City suits year-round patients who prefer indoor air-conditioned recovery and the largest clinic network. Westcoast International Dental in Hanoi has the highest SmileJet All-on-4 volume in the Hanoi network. Ho Chi Minh City offers more clinic choices. Both are backed by the same SmileJet treatment coordination support.
