Smile makeover in Bali
By SmileJet Editorial Team · Updated May 2026
Veneers, professional whitening, and composite bonding combined into a single cosmetic treatment plan. For patients whose teeth are structurally sound but aesthetically imperfect. One trip to Bali, 7 to 10 days, and you fly home with a different smile.
What a smile makeover includes
A smile makeover is a cosmetic treatment plan — not a structural one. It is designed for patients whose teeth are present and broadly healthy but look older, more worn, more discoloured, or less uniform than they would like. The goal is purely aesthetic: a more even, brighter, better-proportioned smile that looks natural and lasts.
The core of most smile makeovers is porcelain veneers on the 6 to 10 upper front teeth (the ones that show when you smile). These thin ceramic shells are bonded to the front surface of each tooth to reshape the colour, length, and form. They are paired with professional whitening to brighten any teeth not covered by veneers — the lower teeth, and any upper teeth that only need whitening rather than a full veneer. For small chips or gaps at the edges of teeth, composite bonding is added as a faster and less invasive fix.
Occasionally a smile makeover includes 1 or 2 crowns if there are teeth that are too structurally compromised for a veneer alone but do not need replacing with an implant. The mix of procedures is determined on Day 1 of your trip, during the clinical assessment and digital smile design preview.

Single trip: how it works day by day
Most smile makeovers complete in a single 7 to 10 day trip. No second visit required.
- Day 1: Arrive Denpasar, Grab transfer to Canggu, Seminyak, or Ubud. Initial consultation, digital smile design mock-up, shade selection, final scope confirmed.
- Day 2: Tooth preparation (1 to 2 hours per arch under local anaesthesia), digital impression, temporary veneers fitted same day. Soft food, rest.
- Days 3-5: Free days. The lab fabricates your veneers. Beach, spa, Ubud rice terraces, or Canggu surf — all comfortable from Day 3.
- Day 6: Veneers try-in, colour and shape review, bite check. Adjustments sent back to lab if needed.
- Day 7-8: Final cementation of veneers, professional whitening session, occlusion check. Composite bonding if included in your plan.
- Day 9: Soft tissue review, care instructions, photographs. Free day if you have the night.
- Day 10: Final review, fly home.
For 6 veneers or fewer, the trip can compress to 5 to 6 days. For 10 veneers plus bonding, plan 8 to 10 days. Your coordinator confirms the minimum trip length based on your package.

Before you commit: what you should know about veneers
A smile makeover with veneers produces excellent, lasting cosmetic results — but it is important to make the decision with clear information. This is not a reversible treatment.
Porcelain veneers require the removal of approximately 0.3 to 0.7 mm of enamel from the front surface of each treated tooth to create space for the ceramic shell. Enamel does not grow back. This means that once you have veneers, your teeth will always need to be covered by some form of restoration going forward — either the original veneers for their lifespan, or replacements when those reach end of life. If a veneer ever chips or debonds, it is repaired or replaced, not left bare.
With proper care — regular professional cleaning, wearing a night guard if you grind, and avoiding biting directly into very hard objects — E.max veneers typically last 10 to 15 years and zirconia veneers 15 to 20 years or longer. Many patients at SmileJet partner clinics are on their second or third set of veneers after decade-long intervals, treating each replacement trip as another Bali holiday.
The most important expectation to set correctly: veneers change the appearance of your teeth, not the position of your jaw or the alignment of your bite in a structural sense. If you have significant crowding, a crossbite, or a bite problem, orthodontics or reconstruction may need to come first. Your Day 1 clinical assessment will identify this before any preparation is done.
SmileJet's position: We only proceed with veneers after your dentist has confirmed at the Day 1 assessment that your teeth are structurally suitable candidates. If a tooth has decay, active gum disease around it, or structural problems that would make a veneer short-lived, we address those first or recommend an alternative approach.
Smile makeover FAQ
How much does a smile makeover cost in Bali?
A smile makeover starts at US$2,200 (~A$3,366) for the Starter package (6 E.max veneers plus whitening). The Classic package (8 veneers, whitening, 2 teeth bonding) is US$3,100 (~A$4,743). The Premium package (10 zirconia veneers, whitening, 4 teeth bonding) is US$4,800 (~A$7,344). Sydney equivalents run A$9,000 to A$20,000 for comparable packages.
Can I really get a smile makeover done in one Bali trip?
Yes. Smile makeovers are the one dental treatment that completes entirely in a single visit because there is no implant healing phase. The prep-to-cementation timeline fits within 5 to 10 days depending on the number of veneers. Most AU patients use a school holiday or annual leave window.
How many veneers do I actually need?
Most patients need 6, 8, or 10 upper veneers — the teeth that are visible when you smile in photos. If your lower teeth also show significantly and you want them to match, lower veneers are added. Your dentist previews the full smile digitally on Day 1 so you can see the result and decide before any tooth preparation.
What is the difference between a smile makeover and full mouth reconstruction?
A smile makeover is cosmetic: teeth are present, structurally sound, and the work (veneers, whitening, bonding) is purely aesthetic. Full mouth reconstruction is functional and structural: missing teeth, severely decayed or broken teeth, failing old restorations, and bite problems that require implants, crowns, root canals, and gum treatment.
Are veneers permanent?
Yes, they are a lifelong commitment. Porcelain veneers require the removal of a small amount of enamel (~0.3 to 0.7 mm) that does not grow back. Veneers typically last 10 to 15 years for E.max and 15 to 20+ years for zirconia, then need replacing. Many patients treat the replacement visit as another Bali trip. SmileJet's 12-month guarantee covers the first year against debonding or fracture.
Will my veneers look natural?
At top Bali clinics, yes. Bali cosmetic clinics use the same E.max and zirconia materials as Sydney specialists. The Day 1 digital mock-up lets you review the shape, length, and shade before preparation, so you are approving the aesthetic outcome before any enamel is touched. The most consistent feedback from AU patients is that the veneers look like a better version of their own teeth.
Can I combine a smile makeover with other treatments in the same trip?
Yes. A common combination is veneers on the front teeth plus composite bonding for minor chips on adjacent teeth — all done in the same trip. If you also need implants, those require a second trip due to the healing period, but the veneers can be done on either Trip 1 or Trip 2 depending on what is most efficient for your overall treatment plan.
What is the recovery like in Bali after veneers?
Recovery from veneers is minimal. Day 2 post-prep you wear temporary veneers and eat soft food. Days 3 to 5 (while the lab fabricates) you feel entirely normal — enough to explore Canggu, swim at Seminyak, or walk the Ubud rice terraces. After final cementation on Day 7 or 8, there is no recovery period at all. You fly home the next day with your finished smile.
