The SmileJet Guarantee

Our promise to you

By SmileJet Editorial Team · Updated May 2026

Travelling to Bali for dental treatment is a significant decision. SmileJet exists to make that decision easier and safer. Every commitment below is something we hold ourselves accountable to on every patient journey, not just a line on a marketing page.

How we verify clinics

Verified clinics only

Every clinic in the SmileJet Bali network passes a 30-point inspection before being listed on our site. That inspection covers credentials and licensing, sterilisation and infection control, equipment and technology, patient communication, implant and material quality, and patient safety protocols. A clinic that fails on any of the eight minimum-threshold checks is not listed, regardless of how well it scores elsewhere.

Inspections are repeated annually. A clinic that passes in 2024 is re-checked in 2025. If a complaint triggers a review and the clinic does not meet our standards on re-inspection, it is de-listed. We keep a waiting list of clinics seeking approval so we are never tempted to list a clinic just to fill a gap.

Credentials are cross-checked with the Indonesian Dental Association (Persatuan Dokter Gigi Indonesia, PDGI). Every listed specialist dentist holds a current PDGI registration. We do not list clinics where the operating dentist's licence cannot be independently confirmed.

$

Transparent pricing

Every price shown on SmileJet is a real price confirmed directly with the clinic. Prices are displayed in both AUD and USD. We update pricing data quarterly and flag any clinic whose prices have changed since the last update. If a clinic raises its prices, we update the listing before new quotes are sent.

There are no hidden fees on the SmileJet side. We do not charge patients a booking fee, a coordination fee, or a referral surcharge. Our revenue comes from clinics paying a listing subscription, which does not influence the pricing shown.

Before you pay anything to a clinic, you will receive a written treatment plan with itemised costs in AUD and IDR. We require this of every listed clinic. If a clinic asks for payment without a written plan, contact Made immediately.

Dedicated coordinator support

Made Wirawan is your Bali-based coordinator. Born and raised in Denpasar, fluent in English, 5 years coordinating dental tourism in Bali. She has personally guided more than 280 Australian patients through treatment. When you receive a SmileJet Bali quote, her WhatsApp number is on it.

Made responds within 2 hours during business hours (8am to 8pm WITA, UTC+8). WITA aligns exactly with AWST (Perth), and is only 2 to 3 hours behind AEST. For patients on the east coast of Australia, she is available well into your evening. Weekend and Balinese public holiday coverage is provided by a second coordinator to ensure there is never a gap.

Coordinator support covers the full journey: pre-trip questions, treatment plan review, clinic introduction, hotel recommendations, airport transfers, and post-treatment follow-up. There is no point at which you are left to navigate alone.

🛡

Your safety is paramount

Safety verification is the non-negotiable core of our clinic review. Every listed clinic must demonstrate current sterilisation protocols (autoclave records, single-use instrument documentation, barrier protection logs), modern equipment in working order, and documented emergency response procedures.

For medical emergencies beyond dental scope, SmileJet partner clinics maintain a formal relationship with BIMC Hospital — a Bali-based international hospital with 24-hour emergency care, English-speaking staff, and the capacity to manage medical complications that can arise in dental procedures (anaphylaxis, aspiration, cardiovascular events). Your treatment coordinator knows the nearest BIMC location relative to your clinic.

We also require that all listed clinics carry professional indemnity insurance. Clinics that cannot demonstrate current coverage are not listed. This is distinct from any guarantee SmileJet itself provides and is a baseline clinical responsibility we verify annually.

No-pressure environment

SmileJet does not pressure patients. We will never send you a countdown email, a limited-time offer, or a "last seat" message. We exist to help you make a careful decision about a significant piece of healthcare, not to close a sale before you've thought it through.

You are free to decline any treatment recommendation at any point. If a clinic proposes a treatment plan that seems more extensive than you expected, tell Made. A second opinion from another listed clinic is encouraged and we will arrange it at no cost.

We also tell people when Bali is not the right option for their case. Complex full-mouth reconstructions requiring multiple specialist inputs, or cases requiring immediate emergency care, may be better handled closer to home. We would rather lose a referral than send someone on a trip that does not serve their health.

What we cannot promise

Honesty requires us to be clear about what falls outside our control. These are real limitations, not disclaimers designed to avoid responsibility.

  • Individual healing and clinical outcomes

We verify that clinics use appropriate techniques and materials. We cannot control how your body responds to treatment. Osseointegration rates, healing timelines, and individual biological responses vary between patients. This is true whether treatment takes place in Bali or in Sydney.

  • Flight delays, cancellations, and travel disruptions

We book nothing on your behalf unless specifically asked. We cannot control airline schedules, volcanic ash advisories (Bali's Mount Agung is an active volcano), or immigration processing times. We encourage all patients to take out travel insurance that covers trip cancellation for medical reasons and dental treatment complications.

  • Currency fluctuations between quote and treatment

AUD/USD and AUD/IDR exchange rates move. The AUD prices shown on SmileJet are indicative, calculated at the rate current when the page was last updated. Your actual AUD cost will depend on the rate at time of payment. We recommend requesting a quote close to your travel date and locking in a rate with your bank or currency service before departure.

Frequently asked questions

Is SmileJet a dental clinic?

No. SmileJet is a directory and referral service. We verify and list clinics, coordinate patient journeys, and provide information. We do not perform dental treatment and are not a dental provider. The clinical relationship is between you and the clinic you choose.

What happens if the clinic I booked is de-listed?

If a clinic is removed from the SmileJet network after you have confirmed a booking, we will identify an equivalent alternative clinic, brief you on any differences, and facilitate the transfer at no additional coordination cost. This has happened twice in our history and both patients were successfully redirected before their travel date.

Does SmileJet charge me anything?

No. SmileJet's service to patients is free. We receive a subscription fee from listed clinics. This subscription is a flat listing fee that does not vary by the volume or value of patients referred, which means we have no financial incentive to push you towards a higher-cost clinic.

How do I contact Made if something goes wrong while I'm in Bali?

Made's WhatsApp number is included in every quote and on every confirmation we send. She is available 8am to 8pm WITA (UTC+8). For out-of-hours clinical emergencies, she includes the direct emergency line for BIMC Hospital Kuta and BIMC Nusa Dua in your pre-departure information pack.

Can I get a second opinion from another listed clinic?

Yes, and we actively encourage it for significant treatments. If a clinic proposes an extensive treatment plan that you want independently reviewed, Made can arrange a second consultation at another listed Bali clinic. There is no charge for this service and it does not obligate you to book with either clinic.

What does "verified clinic" actually mean in practice?

It means the clinic has passed SmileJet's 30-point inspection, conducted by an independent Bali-based dental professional. Verification covers credentials (PDGI registration, dentist qualifications), sterilisation and infection control, equipment, patient communication, implant and material quality, and safety protocols. Clinics are re-inspected annually. See our full verification methodology for the exact criteria.
