Airport Information
Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juárez (MEX)
The main international airport, located inside the city. Most flights from Australia, Canada, and the USA arrive here. From MEX, it is approximately 25 minutes to Polanco – Mexico City's primary dental clinic district.
Important: Two Airports
Mexico City now has a second airport – NAICM / AIFA (Felipe Angeles International), located approximately 35 minutes further from the city centre. Some budget routes and domestic connections use AIFA. Check your booking carefully – flying into AIFA will add 45–60 minutes to your transfer time. When searching for dental tourism flights, filter specifically for MEX.
Getting from the Airport to Your Clinic
All three options below depart from the international arrivals hall at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. Polanco is the reference neighbourhood – most dental clinics are there or nearby.
Uber / Didi
The easiest option for most travellers. Open the app inside the terminal once you have signal. Do not accept ride offers outside the app.
- Cost: A$8–12 to Polanco
- Time: 25 min (off-peak)
- Pickup: Inside designated rideshare zone
Official Airport Taxi
Safest choice for first-time visitors. The Taxi Autorizado desk is at the arrivals exit – pay at the desk, not the driver.
- Cost: A$18–25 to Polanco
- Time: 25–35 min
- Pickup: Taxi Autorizado desk, arrivals level
Metro Line 5
Possible but not recommended for dental tourists. The MEX terminal connects to metro Line 5. Luggage is difficult and standing time is hard post-procedure.
- Cost: A$0.30
- Time: 45 min to Polanco area
- Note: Not recommended with luggage
Key Dental Clinic Neighbourhoods
Mexico City is large, but dental tourism is concentrated in four districts. Knowing which neighbourhood your clinic is in will shape your hotel choice.
Polanco Most Popular
Mexico City's most international neighbourhood. Home to 15+ accredited dental clinics, 5-star hotels, Michelin-recommended restaurants, and excellent walkability. Safe at all hours. The default choice for international dental patients.
Condesa / Roma
Boutique clinics focused on cosmetic dentistry and DSD (Digital Smile Design). Tree-lined streets, trendy cafes, natural wine bars, and an excellent selection of soft-food restaurants ideal for recovery. Mid-range hotel and Airbnb options.
Santa Fe
Mexico City's modern business district, further from the tourist areas. Home to hospital-grade dental facilities suited to complex full-arch implants and bone grafting. Best accessed by Uber from a Polanco base rather than staying here.
Lomas de Chapultepec
Quiet, upscale residential neighbourhood adjacent to Polanco. Ideal for 2–4 week recovery stays. Excellent access to Chapultepec Forest for gentle recovery walks. Mainly furnished apartments rather than hotels.
Timing Your Arrival
Schedule your first dental appointment for Day 2, not Day 1. The morning of arrival – regardless of flight time – is recovery time from travel. Most Mexico City clinics are open Monday to Saturday, 8am–7pm. A handful offer Sunday appointments for emergencies or pre-treatment consultations.
Tip: if your flight arrives in the afternoon, use Day 1 to walk to the clinic and confirm the location. Many first-timers get their bearings this way and feel far more relaxed on appointment day.
