How we check reviews.
What each label proves, the only reasons we remove anything, and what our moderators actually did. Clinics cannot pay to change any of it.
Three ways in, each labelled.
-
The open form.
Anyone can write a review from a clinic's page. They confirm their email address and agree that they were treated there and are not connected to the clinic. A moderator reads it before it is published.
-
A one-time invite link.
When SmileJet arranged a patient's treatment, staff send them a personal link that works once. Reviews written through it carry "Booked through SmileJet".
-
An invoice check.
Any reviewer can show us the clinic's invoice from their account. If the clinic name and treatment match, the review carries "Invoice seen by SmileJet". The invoice is kept private and never published.
What each label means.
Each label names the evidence we hold, and nothing more.
- Booked through SmileJet
- SmileJet coordinated this patient's treatment at this clinic and sent them a one-time review link. It proves the booking, not the clinical result.
- Invoice seen by SmileJet
- The patient showed us an invoice or receipt from this clinic for this treatment. We never publish it.
- Submitted to SmileJet
- Written on SmileJet by someone who confirmed their email address. We screened it but hold no proof of a visit.
- via Google
- Collected from the clinic's Google listing. Shown for context and never counted in SmileJet ratings, Worth It scores or prices.
What we do not check.
- We do not judge clinical results. A review is one patient's account, not a medical opinion.
- We do not visit patients or clinics to confirm what a review says.
- We do not check facts a patient states, such as how long a crown lasted. Clinics can reply, and anyone can report a statement they think is false.
What never happens.
- Clinics cannot pay to remove, hide, edit or reorder reviews or answers.
- Featured partners carry the "Featured partner" label. They get no boost in the order of reviews or answers. Reviews are shown newest first; answers by helpful votes, then age.
- We never write, edit or generate reviews, diary updates, questions or forum posts. Not with staff, and not with AI.
- Nobody is offered a discount, gift or payment for a review, by us or by a clinic. A review written for a reward is removed.
The only reasons we remove anything.
The same rules apply to good and bad reviews. Tone, harsh words, or harm to a clinic's business are not reasons.
- Not written by a patient of this clinic, or by someone with them.
- Written by clinic staff, a competitor, or someone paid or rewarded to write it.
- Offered a discount, gift or payment in exchange.
- Contains someone else's personal or medical details.
- Threats, hate speech, or abuse aimed at a named person.
- Advertising, links or contact details, or not about dental treatment.
- The same experience posted more than once.
- Not about this clinic, treatment or question.
Extra protection for safety reports.
A review or diary update that describes a complication or a safety problem can never be removed for these reasons:
- Threats, hate speech, or abuse aimed at a named person.
- Not about this clinic, treatment or question.
A strongly worded account of harm is not abuse.
We never edit what a patient wrote. If a review contains someone else's personal details, we ask the author to take them out. Photos are checked before they appear, and we remove the hidden location and camera data from every photo.
Anyone can report. Authors can appeal.
- Every review, answer and post has a Report link. You do not need an account to use it.
- A reported item stays up while a moderator looks at it. It comes down only if one of the reasons above applies.
- If we do not publish something you wrote, we tell you the reason. You can appeal once, and the appeal is decided by a different moderator.
Clinics can reply, in public.
- A clinic can post one public reply under each review. On SmileJet reviews, the date of the reply is shown.
- A reply must not reveal anything about the patient's treatment that the patient did not publish.
- Where a clinic has not replied to a SmileJet review, the review says so.
Google reviews are context, not our score.
Many clinic pages also show reviews collected from the clinic's Google listing, marked "via Google". We did not collect them and cannot check them. They are never counted in SmileJet patient ratings, Worth It scores or prices, and never in the review data we give search engines.

Common questions.
Can a clinic pay to remove a bad review?
No. A clinic can report a review like anyone else, and it stays up unless a moderator finds one of the removal reasons on this page.
Do featured partners rank higher in reviews?
No. Reviews are shown newest first, and answers by helpful votes, whether or not the clinic pays SmileJet.
Can I change my review later?
You can add diary updates and change your Worth It answer from your account. We never change what you wrote.
Why are some reviews marked "via Google"?
They come from the clinic's Google listing and are shown for context. They are never counted in SmileJet ratings, Worth It scores or prices.
