Coordinator pickup at Phnom Penh International (PNH)

By SmileJet Editorial Team · Updated May 2026

Where logistically feasible, your dedicated SmileJet Phnom Penh coordinator personally meets you at PNH arrivals. Sign with your name in English, bottle of cold water, transfer to your hotel pre-booked. Here is the full protocol.

The standard pickup protocol

Your coordinator receives your flight details from SmileJet 7 to 10 days before arrival, including any subsequent flight changes you make. Day-of arrival, they monitor the flight tracker and arrive at PNH 30 minutes before your scheduled landing.

Upon clearing immigration and collecting your bag, you exit through arrivals into a signed waiting area. Your coordinator stands with a sign showing your name printed in English, a bottle of cold water, and a small SmileJet card. They are usually on the right-hand side of the exit corridor as you walk out.

The transfer to your hotel is by pre-booked Grab or partner-driver SUV (typically a Toyota Camry or Innova). Phnom Penh International is roughly 12km from BKK1 and 8km from Daun Penh & Riverside. Travel time is 25 to 35 minutes depending on traffic.

During the transfer your coordinator briefs you on day-one logistics: clinic location and timing, hotel check-in process, recommended dinner spots, currency notes, and the WhatsApp number you can reach them on at any hour during your trip.

"Where logistically feasible" — what it actually means

The qualifier is genuine and matters. Most arrivals fall within the standard protocol above. A small number of cases require a backup arrangement:

  • Very late-night or pre-dawn arrivals (typically 11pm to 5am Cambodia time). The coordinator may be off-duty for the night to maintain reliable working-hours coverage during your treatment days. A vetted SmileJet partner driver covers these arrivals with the same protocol — sign, water, briefing.
  • Peak operational hours when another patient is mid-treatment. The coordinator\'s primary commitment is to active in-clinic patients on treatment days. If your arrival coincides with a 3-hour multi-implant placement they need to attend, the partner-driver protocol applies for your pickup.
  • Same-day multiple-arrival overlap. If two SmileJet patients are arriving within 90 minutes of each other on different flights, the coordinator handles the priority case (longer trip, more complex treatment, higher anxiety level if disclosed) and the partner-driver protocol covers the other.

In all of these cases, you receive the partner driver\'s photo and licence plate via WhatsApp before you land. The standard of greeting (sign, water, briefing) is identical. You are never picked up by an unknown person you cannot identify in advance.

If you prefer to self-arrange

Some patients prefer to arrange their own transfer. Reasons range from arriving with family who want to handle logistics independently, to wanting to walk through arrivals at their own pace. We respect that preference.

Options if you self-arrange:

  • Grab (the regional ride-share app). Reliable, English app interface, fares around US$8 to US$12 from PNH to BKK1 or Daun Penh. WiFi at the airport gives you signal to book inside arrivals.
  • PassApp (the local ride-share alternative). Cheaper than Grab (US$5 to US$8) but Khmer-language app interface. Less convenient for first-time visitors.
  • Hotel-arranged transfer. Most BKK1 and Daun Penh hotels offer airport pickup at US$15 to US$25 per car. Pre-book before flying so a driver is waiting.
  • Airport taxis. Available at the official taxi counter inside arrivals. Fixed-fare to central Phnom Penh, around US$10 to US$15. Avoid the touts working outside the official counter.

If you self-arrange, your coordinator instead meets you at the hotel at check-in for the same day-one briefing.

Final-day departure transfer

The same protocol applies in reverse for your departure. Your coordinator pre-books a Grab or partner driver for hotel-to-PNH transfer 3 hours before your international departure (or 90 minutes before a domestic Phnom Penh to Siem Reap flight). The coordinator typically does not accompany the departure transfer — by then your treatment is complete and the relationship is winding down.

If you are extending to Siem Reap after Trip 2, the domestic flight check-in is fast (45 minutes is enough). The coordinator hands you over to a Siem Reap-side partner who meets you at REP arrivals.

Coordinator pickup is included on every SmileJet-matched treatment, where logistically feasible.
