Dr. Oliver and his entire staff are amazing. I got a 6 month routine cleaning and polishing done back in February. I was stressed because I was dealing with my gums bleeding. After my cleaning was done I was told there was a lot of plaque from not flossing and only using a waterpik. I was not unaware I could floss since I got my veneers done in Medellin from another doctor and was told not to…

o floss, because of my margins being tight. He told me to floss. I stopped using the water pik and started flossing nightly before brushing with Dr. Tung’s floss from Amazon and my teeth are no longer bleeding like they were before and feel better than ever. Thank you so much! When I need to replace my veneers in 10 years or when I vacation in Cartagena. I am only booking with Dr. Oliver. He’s number 1! I highly recommend him. You will not have any regrets! God Bless you and your staff!

I found Dr. Julio Oliver’s dental practice when I googled dental implant in Columbia. I decided on Cartagena and his name based on his biography. I took a leap of faith and went to Columbia for my dental work. Dr. Oliver was very thorough and explained everything that needed to be done in order to have a beautiful smile. The price was so much less than what I would have paid in the US or the…

Bahamas. Claudia was the liaison person who made all the arrangements for me. W{hen I arrived in Cartagena, they had an English speaking driver, Carlos, collect me from the airport and take me to my hotel. Carlos was responsible for taking me to my numerous dental appointments and to take me back to the airport at the end of my trip. The procedure was done in 2 phases. i stayed for 1 week to complete the 1st phase. I always had a fear of the part where the dentist has to anesthetize the area. I was pleasantly surprised by how gentle Dr. Oliver was and I didn’t feel any pain. His assistant, Angie explained everything that was done afterwards and what to expect during the healing process. Everything went as planned and I returned home to await the 2nd phase. Despite a minor complication at home where I sought the assistance of a local dentist, I returned to Cartagena months later to complete the 2nd and final phase of my work. It was a lovely reunion and he and Angie welcomed me again. I had to stay for 2 weeks in order for the dental work to be created. In between my visit, I took the time to tour the picturesque city of Cartagena. This hotel was located across the street from Dr. Oliver’s office which made it very convenient when the work was completed early. I simply walked across the street to have my dental appointment. I had 2 days remaining to ensure that I was satisfied and had no issue with the implant. I was totally satisfied and made my final payment and thanked them for my beautiful smile. Angela always called to check up on me and that everything was going well. She did this during both of my visits and reassured me whenever I felt concerned about anything. Dr Oliver would address it immediately. I would definitely recommend Dr. Julio Oliver and his team if you need dental work done.

Good experience and I am sure if I went more times that I would see even more result but overall happy with the service and price and the appointment was honored dispute being 10-15 min late because the place is a little difficult to find (unmarked building) but overall very nice experience from USA to CartiG

My wife and I made appointments and went to this dentist the first thing on our day in port on our cruise. They were clean, professional, and honest. They informed my wife she didn't need a deep cleaning that her new dentist back home had recommended. We were in and out within an hour.

Questions

What people ask this clinic.

What does Dr. Julio Oliver's 28 years of experience mean for patients considering advanced implantology?

Twenty-eight years of specialist practice means Dr. Julio Oliver at Dental Tourism Colombia in Cartagena has worked through the full evolution of modern implantology, from early titanium systems to digital planning and guided surgery. This historical depth gives him perspective on which techniques and materials have proven durable over decades and which innovations are genuinely useful versus trendy. For patients considering full-arch reconstruction or complex multi-implant cases, a surgeon with this length of career has likely managed complications and edge cases that clinicians with fewer years have not yet encountered.

What makes Bocagrande in Cartagena a recognized dental tourism district?

Bocagrande is one of Cartagena's most accessible and visitor-oriented peninsulas, known for its beachfront hotels, international restaurants, and proximity to the historic walled city. Dental Tourism Colombia is located in this area, which means patients recovering from dental procedures have immediate access to comfortable accommodation and leisurely activities that make the post-treatment days genuinely pleasant rather than purely medical. Bocagrande attracts a high proportion of Colombian and international visitors, giving the area a cosmopolitan character that experienced travelers find easy to navigate.

How is Dental Tourism Colombia designed specifically around the needs of international patients?

Dental Tourism Colombia in Cartagena was built with international patients as the primary focus rather than as an afterthought. The clinic's workflow is structured around patients who are visiting for a defined number of days and need their treatment sequenced efficiently within that window. The team is experienced in explaining procedures and treatment options in plain terms for patients who are not familiar with Colombian dental practice, and the administrative processes for scheduling, payments, and documentation are streamlined for non-resident patients. Language support for English speakers is available.

How can patients combine a Caribbean holiday with dental treatment in Cartagena?

Cartagena is one of Latin America's most celebrated travel destinations, with a UNESCO-listed historic center, colonial architecture, Caribbean beaches, and a year-round warm climate. Patients who choose Dental Tourism Colombia in Cartagena can structure their visit so that procedure days are followed by recovery and leisure days spent on the beach, in the old city, or on boat excursions. The typical dental tourism patient needs two to four active treatment days in a five-to-seven day trip, leaving meaningful time for genuine holiday activities that make the medical journey feel worthwhile beyond the dental result.

How does Dr. Oliver's depth of experience shape his implant planning approach?

Dr. Julio Oliver at Dental Tourism Colombia approaches implant planning with the perspective of a clinician who has observed implant systems succeed and fail over nearly three decades. His planning process incorporates conservative bone assessment, realistic loading timelines, and material choices based on long-term evidence rather than marketing claims. For patients who are investing in implants as a permanent solution, this experience-driven approach means fewer compromises in case planning and a clearer understanding of what realistic outcomes look like over a 10 to 20 year horizon, rather than just immediately after placement.

How does Cartagena compare to Bogota or Medellin as a dental tourism destination?

Cartagena offers a qualitatively different experience from Bogota and Medellin. It is a smaller, warmer, beach-oriented city where the pace of recovery feels more vacation-like than urban. Flights from North America connect through major US hubs to Rafael Nunez International Airport with reasonable frequency, though Bogota and Medellin have more direct route options. For patients who prioritize the quality of the experience around their dental treatment, not just the clinical care, Cartagena with Dental Tourism Colombia provides a setting that Bogota's business climate and Medellin's mountain city character do not replicate.

How do patients typically travel to Cartagena from the USA for a dental appointment?

The most common route from the United States to Cartagena is via a connecting flight through Miami, Bogota, or another major hub, with several US airlines and Avianca operating the routes. Flight times from Miami are approximately two and a half to three hours. Patients planning a dental trip to Dental Tourism Colombia in Cartagena typically arrive a day before their first appointment to settle in and recover from travel, which is particularly important before surgical procedures. The clinic can coordinate with a patient's travel schedule to plan appointments that do not fall on the day of arrival.

What does the pre-arrival consultation process look like at Dental Tourism Colombia?

Before patients book flights to visit Dental Tourism Colombia in Cartagena, the clinic encourages a remote consultation via video call or email. Patients are asked to share their dental history, recent X-rays or panoramic images if available, and a description of their dental goals. Dr. Oliver's team reviews this information and provides a preliminary treatment proposal with estimated costs, so the patient arrives with a realistic expectation of what the visit will involve. This pre-arrival step avoids the situation where patients invest in a trip only to discover on the first day that their case requires more time or preparation than anticipated.

What does the recovery experience look like for patients staying in Cartagena after implant surgery?

Recovery after implant placement at Dental Tourism Colombia typically involves two to three days of reduced activity, during which patients are advised to avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and eating hard foods on the surgical side. Cartagena offers an ideal environment for this recovery period, with access to calm beach settings, walking the old city at a leisurely pace, and sitting in the shade of colonial plazas. The warm weather and unhurried atmosphere make rest easy without the feeling of being confined to a hotel room. Most patients report being comfortable enough for light tourism within 24 to 48 hours of a standard implant procedure.

What does a 5-day dental tourism package structure typically look like at Dental Tourism Colombia?

A 5-day dental tourism package at Dental Tourism Colombia in Cartagena is generally structured as follows: Day one covers arrival, orientation, and initial consultation with imaging. Day two involves the main surgical or preparation procedure, such as extractions or implant placement. Day three is a recovery day with a follow-up check if needed. Day four may involve restorative work, temporary restorations, or additional procedures that were planned as part of the sequence. Day five covers a final review appointment, documentation handover, and departure preparation. The clinic can adjust this sequence based on the specific treatment plan and the patient's total available days in Cartagena.
