The procedure

Symptoms that suggest root canal may be needed

Days 1-2 post-treatment

Tenderness when biting on the treated tooth is expected and resolves within 2-3 days as the periapical inflammation settles. The tooth has a temporary filling in place protecting the canals until the crown is fitted. Avoid chewing directly on the temporary. Normal beach activity, hotel dining, and day trips are fine — the tenderness is localised to the tooth under pressure, not constant.

Days 3-5: crown phase

Crown preparation is scheduled 1-2 days after root canal, once the immediate post-treatment tenderness has subsided.
