Ho Chi Minh City sits 10° north of the equator and has a two-season tropical climate: a dry season (November–April) and a wet season (May–October). For dental treatment specifically, the dry season is substantially more comfortable – lower humidity, no afternoon downpours, and cooler evenings make the post-procedure recovery days more manageable. That said, treatment happens year-round and most patients who visit in the wet season find it perfectly workable with minor adjustments.
The optimal window: November–April
The dry season months of November through April are the most comfortable for HCMC dental travel. Temperatures range from 25–33°C with low humidity (by tropical standards), no significant rainfall, and pleasant evenings in Thao Dien and District 1. Tet avoidance: January–February
Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) is the single most important scheduling consideration for HCMC dental travel. Most partner clinics close for 10–14 days around Tet. Flights spike significantly. City services operate on reduced capacity. The Tet window shifts by 10–20 days each year based on the lunar calendar:

How climate affects implant recovery specifically
Tropical heat (28–35°C) post-implant placement has one practical implication: facial swelling is slightly more pronounced in heat than in cooler climates because heat dilates blood vessels. This is not clinically significant but it is noticeable during the first 2–3 days. Dry-season HCMC (25–30°C, lower humidity) is more comfortable during the swelling window than wet-season HCMC (30–35°C, 85–90% humidity). For implant surgery specifically, if you have a choice between a November and a July trip, November is more comfortable in the recovery days.

Sydney–HCMC flights are cheapest in May–June and September–October (shoulder periods between peak seasons). Most expensive: December–January (Christmas/New Year + Tet proximity), July (school holidays). For maximum flexibility on treatment dates combined with good flight prices, March–April and October–November are the optimal windows.
