treatment coordination support
The SmileJet HCMC treatment coordination support
By SmileJet Editorial Team · Updated May 2026
Every patient treated at a SmileJet-listed Ho Chi Minh City clinic has SmileJet coordination support if a treatment-related issue arises. This is coordination support, not a warranty or insurance product: no promised remedy, no fixed coverage window, no reimbursement. This page explains what coordination does, how it works, and its limits.
Where coordination helps
Dental implants
If an implant fixture or abutment placed at your HCMC clinic shows signs of trouble, SmileJet helps you raise it and coordinate a clinical review. Biological rejection (osseointegration failure) is a separate clinical matter – see limitations below.
Porcelain veneers
If a veneer cracks, delaminates, or debonds under normal biting forces, SmileJet coordinates a review with the treating clinic. Damage from grinding (bruxism) without a prescribed night guard is not a treatment-related issue.
All-on-4 prosthetics
If the prosthetic bridge or abutment components develop an issue, SmileJet helps organise an assessment by the treating clinic, covering both surgical and prosthetic elements. Any remedy and its cost are the clinic's decision.
How to raise an issue
What coordination support does not do
Not a warranty or insurance product
Coordination support sets no fixed coverage window, promises no specific remedy, and does not entitle you to no-charge re-treatment or reimbursement of treatment, travel, or accommodation. It is a coordination service only.
Biological failure (implants)
Implant osseointegration failure is a biological event. Literature rates are approximately 3–5% (Moraschini et al. 2015, Clin Oral Investig – 94.6% pooled 5-year survival). If it occurs, the treating clinic will assess and discuss options including replacement; any remedy and its cost are the clinic's decision.
Bruxism damage
Damage arising from grinding or clenching (bruxism) is not a treatment-related issue unless you were assessed and prescribed a night guard and used it as directed. If bruxism was diagnosed during your HCMC consultation, night guard use is part of the recommended aftercare.
Trauma
Damage from physical trauma (falls, accidents, sports injury) is not a treatment-related issue. This falls under your personal insurance or travel insurance.
Non-compliance with post-operative instructions
Where damage arises from documented non-compliance with post-operative instructions (e.g., eating hard foods during healing, smoking against medical advice), the treating clinic assesses whether the issue relates to the original treatment. Post-op instructions are provided in English and require sign-off.
Treatment outside the SmileJet network
If you have the treatment modified, adjusted, or repaired by a non-SmileJet clinic, that work falls outside what coordination support can assess against the original treatment.
Coordination support FAQ – Ho Chi Minh City
Does coordination support apply to all HCMC districts?
Yes. SmileJet coordination support applies to all listed HCMC partner clinics – District 1, 3, 7, and Phu Nhuan. It works the same regardless of which district your clinic is in.
How do I raise a treatment issue?
Email SmileJet with your name, treatment date, clinic name, a description of the issue, and photos where applicable. We acknowledge promptly and help pass the information to the treating clinic to arrange a clinical review. For urgent cases involving pain or active complications, contact us via Messenger for a priority response.
Are manufacturer implant warranties separate from coordination support?
Yes. Implant manufacturer warranties (Straumann lifetime, Nobel Biocare lifetime, Osstem 10 years) are separate from SmileJet coordination support and remain in force on their own terms. A manufacturer warranty claim goes to the manufacturer via the treating clinic; SmileJet does not issue or extend any warranty.
What happens if I used a different home dentist for ongoing care?
You can see any qualified dentist for check-ups after your HCMC treatment – coordination support does not require you to return to Vietnam for routine care. If your home dentist modifies the original work, the treating clinic may no longer be able to assess that item against its original treatment, which can limit what coordination can achieve.
Is the process the same for all treatments?
Yes. Whether your case is a veneer debond or an implant abutment issue, the same steps apply: contact SmileJet, we help arrange a clinical review with the treating clinic, and we help schedule any follow-up care the clinic determines is appropriate. The response speed is calibrated to the clinical urgency.
Where coordination helps – all treatment types
SmileJet coordinates with our partner clinics for treatment-related issues – contact us and we will help arrange a clinical review with the treating clinic directly. Here is the full scope by treatment category.
| Treatment | Treatment-related (coordination helps) | Outside coordination |
|---|---|---|
| Dental implants | Implant fixture structural failure, abutment fracture, screw loosening due to manufacturing defect | Biological rejection, bruxism-related damage without night guard, trauma |
| Porcelain veneers | Delamination, cracking, debonding under normal biting forces | Bruxism damage, trauma, modification by another dentist |
| Zirconia crowns | Crown fracture, debonding, abutment failure | Damage from grinding, trauma, decay developing under crown |
| All-on-4 / All-on-6 prosthetics | Bridge structural failure, abutment screw failure, bar fracture | Biological osseointegration failure, trauma, non-compliance with post-op care |
| Root canal treatment | Seal failure requiring re-treatment related to the original work | New infection unrelated to original treatment, fracture of tooth |
| Composite bonding | Fracture or debonding under normal biting forces | Staining (normal), chipping from hard food misuse |
Coordination support relates to treatment-related issues. Aesthetic changes over time (minor colour shift, surface wear) are part of normal dental maintenance rather than treatment-related issues. Any remedy and its cost are the treating clinic's decision.
How SmileJet coordination support compares to after-care at home
Many patients ask how the HCMC coordination support compares to what they would experience with an Australian, New Zealand, or UK dentist. The difference is in how issues are coordinated, not in any promised remedy.
After-care at a home practice
At a home practice, if a treatment-related issue arises you deal with the practice directly. Whether any remedy is offered, and on what terms, is that practice's own clinical and commercial decision. There is no standardised legal requirement – it is practice-by-practice policy.
SmileJet HCMC coordination support
SmileJet coordination support means you have a single point of contact who helps you raise a treatment-related issue and liaises with the treating partner clinic to arrange a clinical review. Separately, implant manufacturer warranties (Straumann lifetime, Osstem 10 years) apply on their own terms.
What makes it different
SmileJet coordinates the communication with the clinic on your behalf – you do not need to navigate it alone across a distance and a language gap. SmileJet does not make clinical decisions, promise a remedy, or reimburse costs; any decision on care rests with the treating partner clinic.
Treatment documentation from HCMC clinics
The quality and completeness of treatment documentation from your HCMC clinic directly affects your ability to raise a treatment-related issue, get continuity of care from your home dentist, and register a manufacturer warranty. SmileJet-listed clinics provide all documentation in English. Here is what you should have at the end of your HCMC treatment.
Treatment summary and clinical notes
A written clinical summary in English covering the procedures performed, materials used, tooth/implant positions by dental numbering, and any post-operative observations. This is the primary document your home dentist needs to continue your care. At SmileJet-listed HCMC clinics, this document is prepared by the treating clinician and provided before you depart.
Implant batch certificates and brand documentation
For every implant placed, you should receive a copy of the implant packaging label or the batch certificate – this records the implant brand, model, diameter, length, surface type, and manufacturing batch number. This document is required for manufacturer warranty claims (Straumann lifetime, Osstem 10 years) and provides proof of implant authenticity. If you do not receive this at your HCMC clinic, request it explicitly before leaving.
Treatment summary in your name
Your treatment record is issued as a named, dated document – not a verbal assurance. It specifies the treatment performed, the materials used, the clinic that carried it out, and the SmileJet contact for coordination. Your home dentist can review it. SmileJet holds an independent copy. If you lose your copy, SmileJet reissues it.
Post-operative instructions in English
Post-operative care instructions in English covering eating, activity, medication, and follow-up timelines are required for all surgical procedures at SmileJet-listed HCMC clinics. These are your reference document if a question arises after you return home. If any post-op instruction is unclear, ask your SmileJet coordinator to clarify in writing before you depart – not after.
CBCT files on disc or transfer
For implant cases, the CBCT scan data is a valuable clinical record. Request a copy on disc or via file transfer from the HCMC clinic. Most partner clinics provide this on request. The CBCT file allows any competent implant dentist globally to review the implant position and the surrounding bone without needing to re-scan. It is also needed if a manufacturer warranty claim requires imaging verification.
Invoice in English for insurance claims
An itemised invoice in English specifying each procedure and cost – in VND and USD or your home currency – is required for travel insurance reimbursement claims. SmileJet-listed HCMC clinics produce English invoices as standard. Keep a copy in both digital and paper form. If your insurance requires a clinical summary alongside the invoice, request both on the same day as treatment completion.
