The verdict up front
Choose Da Nang if...
You want the lowest verified prices in Southeast Asia. You are an Australian or NZ patient with a direct flight preference. You want beach recovery (My Khe) not urban recovery (Bangkok). You are doing veneers, single implants, or an All-on-4 case. You prefer a smaller, slower-paced city.
Choose Thailand (Bangkok) if...
You want the largest clinic selection in SE Asia. You are coming from Europe (comparable flight time). You need hospital-integrated dental care for complex medical comorbidities. You prefer urban amenities and a larger English-speaking expat scene.

Flight comparison: Australia to Da Nang vs Bangkok
Sydney to Da Nang: typically one stop (Singapore or HCMC), 12–14 hours total travel, A$650–1,050 economy return. Sydney to Bangkok: typically one stop (Singapore or Kuala Lumpur), 11–12 hours total travel, A$700–1,100 economy return. Flight time is comparable; Da Nang connections are slightly longer (Da Nang is a smaller airport) but prices are broadly similar. Melbourne to Bangkok has more direct flight options than Melbourne to Da Nang.
Clinic quality: honest assessment
Bangkok\'s top-tier dental hospitals (BDMS group, Bangkok Hospital Dental Center) have larger facilities and more integrated specialist departments than Da Nang\'s top clinics. The gap in clinical outcomes for standard implant and veneer cases is, however, small – both markets use the same implant brands and the same ceramic materials. Where Bangkok has a real advantage is hospital-integration for complex patients with medical comorbidities (cardiac patients, patients on anticoagulants, diabetics) who benefit from on-site anaesthesia and medical backup. For healthy patients doing routine implant or cosmetic work, Da Nang\'s listed clinics are clinically equivalent.
Recovery environment
Da Nang wins decisively on recovery environment. My Khe Beach is 10 minutes from the An Thuong clinic district. Bangkok is an urban megacity – the recovery days are spent in a hotel or a shopping mall, not at a beach. For patients who value the combination of treatment + beach recovery, Da Nang has no equivalent in Southeast Asia for the price point. Phuket (Thailand) has beach recovery but Phuket\'s dental prices are higher than Bangkok and higher than Da Nang.
Visa
Vietnam: Australian, NZ, UK, and Canadian passport holders receive 45-day visa-free entry from 2023. US passport holders receive 45 days visa-free as of 2023. No e-visa required for stays under 45 days. Thailand: Australian and UK passport holders receive 60-day visa-exempt entry; US holders receive 60 days; NZ holders receive 90 days. Both destinations are visa-free for most Western nationalities – Da Nang has a slight edge on entry simplicity given Vietnam\'s recent visa liberalisation.
