Da Nang\'s typhoon season runs October through December. This is not just a comfort issue – typhoons can close the airport for 24–48 hours, disrupting return flights at exactly the wrong moment (Day 4–5 post-implant placement). September–November sees the highest typhoon frequency. Patients travelling in October or November should have travel insurance with flight disruption cover and should discuss flight buffer days with SmileJet. The safest windows for Da Nang dental travel are February–August, with March–July being optimal.
2. Choosing a beach hotel too far from the clinic
Da Nang\'s clinic district clusters around An Thuong (Son Tra District, near My Khe Beach) and the Hai Chau city centre. The beach-hotel strip on My Khe runs 8–10 km along the coast – the difference between a hotel 800m from the clinic and one 6 km away is a material taxi journey on post-procedure days. 3. Compressing the veneer timeline to save a day
The standard Da Nang veneer timeline is: Day 1 DSD consultation + shade selection, Day 2 tooth preparation, Days 3–4 fabrication at the in-house or in-city lab, Day 5 fitting and adjustment. Patients who ask to compress this to 3–4 days to save one hotel night risk requesting a rushed fabrication – particularly on ceramic characterisation and surface finishing, which require proper curing and drying time. A one-day saving on hotel costs is not worth a compromised final result. Book 5 full days for 6–10 veneer cases.
4. Going to the beach on Day 1 post-implant
My Khe Beach is 10 minutes from most Da Nang clinics. The temptation to walk to the beach on Day 1 post-implant is understandable and almost universally regretted by patients who do it. Day 1 post-implant means: local anaesthetic wearing off, early swelling setting in, and a wound site that benefits from cool-air rest rather than sun, saltwater, and exertion. Day 3 is the conservative guideline for beach access after implant placement. Day 2 for a short, shaded walk is usually fine.
5. Not confirming implant brand before travel
Da Nang has a slightly smaller listed clinic network than HCMC, which means a slightly higher concentration of unverified budget clinics in the broader market. Patients booking independently (not via SmileJet) should ask for the implant brand name, batch number format, and warranty documentation in writing before travel. Genuine implants come in sterile factory packaging with manufacturer batch codes. A clinic that cannot or will not show you sealed manufacturer packaging for your implant should be reconsidered.
6. Underestimating the Tet timing impact
Like all Vietnamese cities, Da Nang observes Tet. Partner clinics close for 10–14 days around Tet (late January–early February). Da Nang is also a domestic Vietnamese holiday destination at Tet – domestic tourism fills the beach hotels, prices spike, and the city is genuinely crowded. Avoid the Tet window for dental travel even more strongly than in HCMC.
7. Planning only one trip for a two-trip case
Same rule as in every Vietnamese city: implant cases require two trips (placement + crown fitting after 3-month osseointegration). Patients who intend to "do it all in one trip" either skip the osseointegration period (clinically risky) or receive a permanent crown on an implant that has not yet properly fused with the jaw.
