Part 2. Now I am biting my tongue on the left side. I paid for Strausmann crowns. You shaved my crowns on the lower left side to the point where they are flattened creating a jagged edge that bites my damn tongue. Whatever it takes, no matter how long, a complaint will get filed. I see a lot of great reviews. Good for you. I spent $11,250. 7 crowns, 6 implants, laser whitening, deep cleaning, 3 visits from the states. Only one out 7 was done perfectly which was my front left. I asked could you cut it? The response was oh it'll dissolve. I'm like why not cut it, attention to detail, that became red flag #1. Benefit of the doubt. I'm thinking ok no issues from the implants as months go by until the 6th month for visit #2. I noticed the extreme difficulty Dr. Oriana Gonzalez was has having with fitting the crowns into place. Adjustments were necessary in which anyone costa understand, so finally success so I thought. The crowns felt off again with gaps and the surface of my Strausmann crowns were imo, damaged by them being shaved or trying to shape them but failed horribly. Visit #3 less than 2 weeks later due the extreme uncomfortable situation with my crowns. I'm thinking surely the 3rd time is the charm. This time Dr. Flikier joined in on the process of correcting the crown issues. He cut the back of my lower right gums, then came the fitting of the newly manufactured Strausmann crowns, then more grinding, shaving, filing whatever you want to call it, my teeth are now damaged even more. The lower left are flat, my brand new Strausmann crowns are worthless, I can't chew due to the natural upper left teeth now ache due the decision and judgment of Dr. Simon Flikier and Dr. Oriana Gonzalez of Flikier Dental Institute, San Jose Costa Rica. Now I have to more than likely spend more money on these costly errors. I received an invoice in Spanish, why not at have the translation on there. How do you figure you did grade A work in this situation? I told you politely a review was coming. My honest review based on the facts. Does anyone know how to file a civil complaint as a foreigner? $11,250 is a lot of money, I didn't get a fair deal. I hope this review makes you pause if you're getting multiple implants and crowns. Furthermore, the response is just dental verbiage word salad. The Strausmann crowns, the ones I paid for, the lower left set that were shaved, filed down flat, I bit my damn tongue due your negligence. The only solution you came up with was to shave my teeth, instead of performing proper imaging and fitting. 25 years of experience? Really. I nearly broke the layer of my tongue to draw blood. I promise you, whatever it takes for me file a complaint. Now, more money has to be spent to correct your errors.

Thank you for your review. While we regret that you feel dissatisfied, we believe it is important to clarify the facts for transparency. All treatment provided at Flikier Dental Institute was fully explained, reviewed in detail, and approved in writing by the patient prior to each phase of care. This includes procedures, anticipated adjustments, risks, alternatives, and costs. Our clinical records, radiographs, and treatment notes document that the care was delivered in accordance with accepted professional standards. Complex cases involving multiple implants and crowns routinely require bite adjustments across multiple visits. These refinements are normal, expected, and necessary to achieve proper function and comfort. The crowns placed are clinically intact, properly polished, and functional, as supported by our documentation. Regarding the upper molars, the patient was informed that these teeth had over-erupted due to long-standing absence of opposing lower teeth. Conservative enamel adjustment was required to establish a stable occlusal plane. This was discussed and approved in advance. Temporary sensitivity can occur and is clinically normal. We have honored and continue to offer our warranty, and we encouraged the patient to obtain an independent evaluation in the United States so any concerns could be objectively verified. To date, no clinical evidence has been provided demonstrating treatment failure or damage caused by our care. Invoices are issued in Spanish because they are legal tax documents required under Costa Rican law. An English translation was provided upon request. We respectfully deny allegations of discrimination or improper conduct. While we understand that extensive dental treatment abroad can be stressful, dissatisfaction alone does not equate to malpractice or entitlement to reimbursement. We remain committed to ethical, evidence-based dentistry and transparent communication, and we stand by the quality of the treatment provided.
Dr. Oriana Gonzales is on another level!!! I'm incredibly satisfied with the result. I loved how detail-oriented she was and how she didn't rush to make sure everything was perfect. I also want to highlight the way she treated me and made me feel very comfortable throughout the entire process.

o accommodating in bending the schedule to meet my needs during that week. I’ve had the same work done in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and it took longer and cost more. I plan to return, as needed, for my dental care. The staff there can cover all of my dental needs. It’s one stop shopping! So much easier. My experience was very good.

The dental office and staff treat me with respect and kindness. From the time I was picked up at the airport until I’m driven back to the airport I am taken good care of. And actually before arriving, Howard who sends out emails is always there to inform and assist.

n Flikier Dental Institute in San Jose, CR. Everything I read indicated that the care at the Dental Institute is first-class. After narrowing my clinical choices, I discussed potential care with Howard Siegler, the International Patient Coordinator. Howard was friendly, responsive, and frankly objected. He was clear with the process and managed my sharing of records and potential treatment plans with the doctors. (One amazing point was that Howard said to me, "There are many good clinics here in CR, and I am sure you will be happy with whoever you choose. If you choose us, I will be there the whole way." No bad mouthing of others.) I got my estimate of costs, while not the lowest, it was very competitive. Once I had selected Dental Institute, I scheduled my trip, Howard took details of my flights, suggested a couple of hotel options, and, importantly, the best neighborhood for my two-week stay. They even set up an airport pickup/return. My Dentist, Dr. Oriana González emailed me to introduce herself, and I was on my way. The clinic is ultra-modern, the patient customer service is outstanding, and I cannot say enough about Dr. González. She is wonderful. The process, procedures, customer service, and, importantly, my healthy smile exceeded my expectations. Like me, you have other choices, but I can promise you that I made the right choice. three significant procedures, I had no infections and minimal pain. The four implants that are eighteen months old and the four implants placed one year ago are integrating perfectly into my bone without problems. Today, I had the six month post final x-ray completed and the Florida dentist commented that the two all–on-four implants look well done. Dr. Flikier reviewed the x-ray via email and said the implants look great. My primary concern was quality dental work and Dr. Flikier excelled! THANK YOU DR. FLIKIER AND STAFF! Additionally, his office is well placed in San Jose, Costa Rica. It is very clean and comfortable. His staff is very pleasant. Dr. Flikier and Dr. Navarro are professional and nice, and they speak fluent English. Scheduling was easy and appointments were without problems. I waited over a year to write a review because I am not a dentist and I did not want to mislead others until I knew. I KNOW, absolutely wonderful, quality dental care, and a very nice treatment experience. Lastly, please mention Florida Mike referred you. I asked him to use any referral fee due me to provide service to indigent Costa Ricans. He said that he already provides indigent care and he will use any referral incentive to increase that charity. UPDATE: I went back one year after the implants completed for an evaluation and cleaning. The implants have healed as expected. No problems!
