I did a ton of research online before deciding on a smile makeover abroad, and after reading reviews across Google, dental tourism forums, Reddit, and clinic websites, Meza Dental Care in San José, Costa Rica stood out. I traveled from Washington DC and it was hands-down one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. From the very first email I sent to the team, to the virtual consultation, the personalized approach was obvious. Once I arrived in Costa Rica, the in-person experience was even better. The entire team—Dr. Meza, Dr.Aguliar, Rebecca, Ken, assistants Karol & Melanie, Kari (travel department), and driver Joseph. Everyone treated me with genuine care and warmth throughout my 11 day trip. Every step was explained in clear, patient-friendly language, and they constantly checked in on my comfort. That level of personalization made me feel like I was their only patient. The apartment I booked through the travel department was thoughtfully maintained and very comfortable. Not only did I enjoy my time there, but I was also able to properly rest and recover in comfort, which made a real difference in my trip. The actual procedures were far more comfortable than I imagined. The end result was a natural looking smile makeover that has completely transformed my confidence. I came from the U.S. and was initially nervous about dental work abroad, but Meza Dental in Costa Rica exceeded every expectation. They made the entire process easy and stress-free. I had a full smile makeover—veneers and crowns—and it was practically painless….even on the pocketbook. From start to finish: crystal-clear communication with a detailed itinerary, help with travel and tours, top-tier equipment, and most importantly, the incredible Dr. Meza, Dr. Marin, and Dr. Aguilar, who are all thorough and highly skilled. You’ll love the amazing Rebeca that is the glue of this office. And a big shout out to Josept for being my excellent driver to/from the airport and all of my appointments. I decided to go with dr meza after visiting with a couple other places in Costa Rica. if you’re gonna make a trek from the United States you want to be 1000% comfortable. This has been my fourth visit to dr meza. The pick up and communication with the staff and assisting with the accommodations are 1000% helpful. The first experience that I had, was pretty much everything I thought it would be. When going to another country to get medical care. You want to be understanding of the person‘s education, you want to be understanding of the knowledge and technology, and also to be able to communicate freely not being spoken over not being spoken to like you’re just another number. I felt Dr meza took his time and fully explained his process with each patient and the first question usually is, What are you looking to accomplish by coming here to my practice?. Dr meza then explains his procedures, goes over your x-rays, explains the gums, the bones, the jawline, your smile, your length of your teeth, your gums, the overall health of your entire mouth and how that place apart and comes together. It is then explained what can be done how it can be done, and of course the cost of plan. After my fourth visit, I will say, I’m happy and I’m satisfied thus far and I will continue to slowly get my work done that is necessary for me to feel a little better about myself and feel a little warm and fuzzy inside about going to a practice where every single person you meet has a real smile not a fake one and the body language of every employee tells you that they do care and they are respectful.

Perhaps I am a bit singular in that I neither speak Spanish nor have I the slightest idea how to use a cell phone and so it is with gratitude beyond measure that I am writing, specifically, to review the travel arm of Meza Dental. Kari and Hugo, the Travel Coordinators for Mesa Dental, proved themselves, by far, the most responsible caretakers I have experienced. They are inclusive in that they support Meza Dental patients through housing, reservations, logistics, guidance and recommendations. As such they made sure I felt accompanied every step of the way. Quite a statement I know! Kari and Hugo showed patience and kindness regardless of how many times I asked the same inane question and, while I came for and received top notch dental care, their support made this experience unique. When you go take full advantage of their services and enjoy.

Meza Dental Care in San Jose Costa Rica was recommended by a friend. I contacted them and spoke with Dr. Meza regarding the work I would like done. After reviewing images taken by my dentist, he agreed that it looked reasonable. Within one week I was there!! Let me sing the highest praises to this clinic practice, not only the expertise and complete honesty of Dr. Meza, but the kindness, expertise and efficiency of his entire team. There are schedulers,, assistance with lodging, assistance with tours and a driver to take you to your appointments. You can, of course, plan your own place to stay but I chose to have them arrange everything for me. I have now been twice (from New York). The first visit was a complete assessment (with better scanning equipment than any of the dentists I visited, including specialists, in NY), removal of a bridge, placement of a crown, a tooth extraction, and two implants all done very expertly and efficiently. I returned 4 months later to have crowns placed on the implants…again, the most efficient and expert work I have experienced anywhere. The cost of air fare, lodging, ground transportation, all scans and dental work amounted to less than I would have paid in NY. It is, of course, about the money but to my surprise it turned out to be about the quality of the work and the excellent teamwork. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

My wife, Cindy, and I started visiting Dr. Meza’s clinic about 10 years ago. Cindy had extensive implant work done over the years. The cost was about 30% of what we were quoted in Hawaii. I accompanied Cindy because Costa Rica is an amazing country and a fun place to visit. I had a root canal, one implant and some crowns replaced. Also, at about 1/3 the cost here in Hawaii. I am seeing Dr. Meza again in about two weeks to have two implants completed. I am 80 years old. Dr. Meza is the best dentist I have ever had. Each time we visited over the past 10 years, the office had a new, higher level of technology. But more importantly, even with his impressive success, Dr. Meza has retained his empathy, gentle hands, enthusiastic clinic staff, and his drive to keep getting better. One more thing… Seeing him wearing his “signature” gold Nikes always makes me smile.

Caution.... having ongoing unresolved issues with Meza for over 60 days not being properly attended to. Final review pending.
