Dom zdravlja Zagreb - Centar is the largest primary healthcare provider in Croatia, serving 350,000 Zagreb residents. Includes dental, orthodontic, and laboratory services.

Dom zdravlja Zagreb - Centar (Health Center Zagreb - Centar, abbreviated DZZC) is the largest provider of primary health care services in the Republic of Croatia, located at Ulica Josipa Runjanina 4, Zagreb. This publicly funded institution serves approximately 350,000 residents of the City of Zagreb through 315 contracted medical teams spanning 19 different medical specialties. As the central health authority for a major portion of Croatia's capital, Dom zdravlja Zagreb - Centar plays a foundational role in the healthcare infrastructure of Zagreb and is a key point of access for dental and medical care for both insured Croatian residents and visitors to the city.

The institution has a long history as the backbone of public primary healthcare in Zagreb and Croatia more broadly. Its dental division — the Dentalna zdravstvena zastita (polivalentna) — operates as an integrated multi-specialty dental service providing a full spectrum of preventive, restorative, prosthetic, and specialist dental care. The scale of the organization, the breadth of its clinical teams, and its integration with Zagreb's public health system make Dom zdravlja Zagreb - Centar a unique and important institution in Croatian dentistry.

Treatments & Specialties

The dental health care service at Dom zdravlja Zagreb - Centar is a polivalent (multivalent) service covering the full range of primary dental care needs. Preventive dentistry services focus on oral hygiene education, professional cleaning, and early intervention to reduce the incidence of decay and gum disease across the large patient population served in Zagreb. Conservative dentistry encompasses restorative treatments including fillings and cavity management, ensuring patients can maintain functional dentition.

Aesthetic and prosthetic dentistry at the clinic covers dental crowns, bridges, partial and full dentures, and other prosthetic solutions for patients who have lost teeth or require restoration. The dental service also operates an integrated specialist orthodontic clinic, providing comprehensive orthodontic treatment for children and adults — including assessment, active treatment, and retention phases. The combination of general and specialist dental services under one roof makes Dom zdravlja Zagreb - Centar a comprehensive resource for dental patients throughout the Croatian capital.

Technology & Facilities

The dental department at Dom zdravlja Zagreb - Centar in Zagreb is supported by an in-house dental laboratory and a full dental radiography and X-ray diagnostics system. Having an integrated laboratory enables the clinical teams to coordinate directly with dental technicians on the fabrication of prosthetic restorations, crowns, bridges, and orthodontic appliances, improving turnaround times and quality control for prosthetic work.

The X-ray diagnostic capabilities support comprehensive dental imaging, including periapical radiographs and panoramic views, enabling clinicians to plan treatments accurately and monitor patient dental health over time. The institution's scale — serving 350,000 residents of Zagreb — necessitates the maintenance of up-to-date diagnostic and treatment infrastructure across its multiple facilities and contracted teams.

Why Choose Dom zdravlja Zagreb - Centar

Dom zdravlja Zagreb - Centar represents the foundation of accessible, publicly funded dental care in Croatia's capital city. For insured Croatian residents, the health center provides subsidized or covered dental services that would otherwise require private expenditure. The institution's role in Zagreb's public health system means it has accumulated extensive experience managing a diverse and high-volume patient population, with clinical teams that have handled a wide spectrum of dental conditions over many years.

The integration of a specialist orthodontic clinic, dental laboratory, and radiological diagnostics within the same institution creates a seamless care pathway for patients who need coordinated treatment across multiple dental disciplines. For patients requiring orthodontic referral alongside restorative or prosthetic treatment, this integration reduces logistical complexity and supports continuity of care within Zagreb's public health framework.

As the largest health center in Croatia, Dom zdravlja Zagreb - Centar also serves as a training and reference institution, with clinical teams drawn from 19 specialties. This breadth ensures that patients with complex or unusual dental conditions have access to specialist opinion within a single health network.

Patient Experience

Patients at Dom zdravlja Zagreb - Centar experience dental care within the framework of Croatia's public health system. The institution serves a large and varied patient demographic across Zagreb, from children receiving early orthodontic assessments to elderly patients requiring prosthetic rehabilitation. The scale of the organization means appointment availability across multiple clinical teams and locations, providing flexibility within the health center network.

The orthodontic specialist clinic within Dom zdravlja Zagreb - Centar is particularly valued for providing specialist assessment and treatment within the public healthcare system in Zagreb, helping to ensure that patients who require orthodontic intervention can access appropriate care without being directed solely to private providers. The integrated dental laboratory further supports efficient prosthetic workflows, reducing waiting times for crown and bridge fabrication compared to practices that rely on external laboratory partners.

Location & Accessibility

Dom zdravlja Zagreb - Centar is located at Ulica Josipa Runjanina 4, 10000 Zagreb, Croatia. The central location in Zagreb ensures excellent public transport access and proximity to the city center, making it convenient for the wide geographic catchment area the institution serves. As a public health facility at the heart of Croatia's capital, the health center is well-positioned relative to major transport routes and residential areas of Zagreb. The institution's broad network of contracted teams provides additional service points across the city, extending dental care access beyond the main facility to neighborhoods throughout Zagreb.

Ljiljanja Škrinjarić. If you want useless, unprofessional, and primitive communication, you've come to the right place. With her considerable knowledge and experience, she will explain to you how all your traumas will magically disappear when you get married. If you love your loved ones and want them to truly get help and be listened to without texting on your cell phone half the time, please look no further.

Do not visit a doctor here who almost killed my friend by wrong diagnoses. He did not listen to her although his name suggests otherwise (translate: you hear).

I have to praise dentist Kurkutovic. Namely, I came to the emergency room yesterday in terrible pain because of my own stupidity. The doctor helped me very quickly and was highly professional and polite. Congratulations!! If only all doctors were like that. I rarely give positive reviews, but I had to do this because he reduced my unbearable pain to a lot less.

I just came looking for an emergency infirmary. A rude woman sent me elsewhere without even saying hello or bye. She acted like I was an annoyance and immediately continued talking to her colleague. Totally unprofessional behavior... --- I just came looking for an emergency room. The woman at the information desk dismissed me very arrogantly. No hello or goodbye. I am very satisfied with my doctor and technician. You have to be patient and everything will be resolved, there are people who cause problems for no reason, and they would like to skip the line, people are impatient and nervous. You just need a little patience.😊 …

A modern hospital with elevators and a number of offices with various specialties, excellent service. Unfortunately, recently there has been a long wait for a specialist examination.

Dr. Mirna Eder is uncooperative, arrogant, does not recognize the laboratory findings of the microbiology laboratory of Dr. Profozic, does not want to prescribe me a medicine against pulmonary bacteria, asks the hospital doctor to prescribe the medicine even though she has many years of documentation of my pulmonary infections and therapy that has been forwarded by e-mail so far. She tells me to come to her clinic if I am not feeling well. Unbelievable!!!

Excellent organization of Radiology at the Health Center. No crowds, very little waiting for the scheduled examination, they give you a CD immediately after the examination. I was there around 3 pm and on the same day around 7 pm I found the results on the health portal (e-gradjani). The lady at the building's door and the nurse at the radiology door answer all patients' questions with a smile on their face. Ing. med. Andreja Biličić's work is super efficient, she explains everything gently and with respect for patients. Of course, kudos to Dr. Nenad Tešanović who wrote the detailed results very quickly. Thanks also to the person who organized it all. Thanks to everyone.
