On September 1, 2025, I had an appointment scheduled for 5 PM with the dentist who has been treating me since January 2025, responsible for the treatment of my wisdom teeth. I arrived at the clinic early, around 4:30 PM, and checked in at reception. I waited patiently, but time passed without any updates or feedback about my appointment. Around 6 PM, I was informed that the doctor was finishing a surgery after questioning the delay at reception. What caused me great discomfort was the total lack of clear and transparent communication. After almost two hours of waiting, already inside a consultation room, I was informed that the responsible professional had needed to leave due to an emergency and would not be available to see me. I was then directed to other dentists who, I repeat, provided adequate care, but the situation could have been handled in a much more respectful and organized manner by the reception, which had prior knowledge of the professional's absence hours before my arrival at the clinic. The next day, I contacted the clinic again and was able to be seen by my trusted dentist, Dr. Luciana Barros, with whom I had the surgery. I have no words to describe how excellent her professional conduct is: ethical, careful, humane, and attentive. Throughout the entire process, from pre- to post-operative, she was impeccable, closely monitoring my recovery and demonstrating genuine concern for my well-being. She is a top-notch professional, whom I recommend without hesitation. However, even after this positive experience with the dentist, on September 22, 2025, I returned to the clinic to have the stitches from the surgery removed, with an appointment scheduled for 3 pm. I arrived around 2:37 pm, introduced myself at reception, and waited. Once again, I spent almost an hour waiting without any response or information. Only when I questioned an assistant I knew did I discover that the doctor was not present, as she was on leave for health reasons. In other words, once again the reception staff failed at something basic: communicating the professional's absence to the patient and offering alternatives. It is important to emphasize that I would have had no problem having the stitches removed by another dentist at the clinic; what angered me was the lack of respect, clarity, and professionalism of the reception staff, who preferred to leave me waiting in silence. Because of this, I did not have the procedure done and left the clinic, feeling once again disrespected and diminished. I understand that unforeseen events happen, and I know that the routine of a dental clinic can be full of emergencies. However, the way patients are treated in these situations is what really makes a difference. In my case, on two occasions, I felt neglected by the reception staff, and that is unacceptable. My suggestion is that management seriously invest in training and development for the administrative staff, focusing on customer service, assertive communication, and handling unexpected situations. The clinic has excellent professionals in the technical area, but it seriously fails in the first line of contact with the patient. I leave this report with the aim of being constructive: I hope that the clinic pays attention to these points, because the patient deserves respect, clarity, and consideration in any circumstance.
