Although this isn't the most appropriate channel to respond to your comment, it is necessary, due to my professionalism, ethics, and good reputation, to address it. First, you consulted at a clinic that meets all the parameters required by the Colombian government under jurisprudence, ethics, and the legal framework. All of us who work here are graduate professionals, specialized and qualified in our work within the Republic of Colombia. It's important to clarify that you came to the clinic because you had a dental problem involving bone loss. You were evaluated, and the necessary diagnostic tests were ordered (X-rays and CT scans of the area to be treated and of all your teeth for an accurate diagnosis). After a review by the other specialists in the necessary disciplines (endodontics, periodontics, and prosthodontics), accompanied by your husband, who always accompanies you, the treatment plan, possible risks, and necessary care were explained to you. This was written and signed along with the consent forms, which included your signature and a copy of your identification documents, as you are not a Colombian citizen and this type of legal documentation is required. Among the clarifications, you agreed to keep us informed of your progress. This is because you underwent a procedure involving the extraction of the damaged tooth, the placement of an implant in the area, and bone regeneration, which involved the placement of a biocompatible material to restore the support that had been lost in your natural tooth due to a procedure performed many years ago in your country of origin. This procedure was not successful, and therefore you sought professional help. From the date of your surgery to the date of your return to your country, three weeks passed. During this time, you underwent follow-up appointments, post-surgery X-rays, and periodic checkups, during which you reported no discomfort. This is documented in your medical record. We called your number several times via WhatsApp, but received no response, and no complaints or questions were raised. We left it at that because it takes 6 to 9 months for the bone graft to fully heal, and since we hadn't heard back from you, we assumed the procedure was progressing correctly. Six months later, I received a call from your husband, who threatened me and spoke in a hostile manner. I was surprised because I hadn't received any prior notification or information from you regarding any issues or problems with the procedure during those six months. I contacted a relative of your husband who had recommended my services and told me he was unaware of the situation. One year later, she returned to my office with her husband, and I politely asked if I could examine her and obtain a copy of the medical record from the new professional who had treated her. I wanted to review what had happened so I could make a decision. As is typical of you and your husband, you responded very rudely and hostilely, requiring another family member to restrain you so I could speak. I was very clear with her, stating that if something had gone wrong with the treatment, I would gladly accept it, as the ethical professional and human being that I am, but always within the bounds of respect and legality. To do so, I required direct communication with the professional who had treated her and a copy of her diagnosis and X-rays taken before and after her new treatment. Some time later, your family member brought copies of the medical record, which did not show all the problems you had described. It only mentioned the removal of the implant and the placement of another bone substitute, but nowhere did it mention any failure in the procedure due to negligence or iatrogenic causes.
