Why Bother Travelling for a Clean?

Most patients do not. The math here is for two specific groups: patients combining the clean with another procedure (an implant consult, a veneer assessment, a second opinion on a treatment plan from home), and patients on Phu Quoc anyway who want a fresh slate before flying home. For both, the cost is essentially the price of half a morning.

The other case is patients who have not been to a dentist in two or three years because home prices have crept up. A Phu Quoc check-up is a low-friction way to find out what is actually going on, with X-rays, and walk away with a written plan you can act on at home or back on the island.

What Happens in the Appointment

1. Reception and intake. Bring a list of any medications and existing dental work. Neither clinic publishes which languages its dentists speak, so SmileJet can help in English, Russian or Vietnamese before your visit.
2. Examination. Visual check of every tooth, gum measurement (periodontal probing), soft-tissue check, jaw and bite assessment.
3. X-rays. Usually small X-rays to check between teeth, and a panoramic X-ray if it is your first visit or you have not had one for some years.
4. Scaling. Ultrasonic scaler removes hardened tartar (calculus). Hand scaling under the gum line if needed. Twenty to forty minutes depending on how much build-up.
5. Polish. Mildly abrasive paste on a rubber cup removes surface stains and makes teeth feel smooth.
6. Optional add-ons. Ask the clinic about stain removal, fluoride or a desensitiser if you have sensitive teeth.
7. Treatment plan. Ask for a written plan if anything was found: fillings, deep clean, future implant or crown. You do not have to do anything on this trip.

Tri Hao Dental Clinic is open Monday to Saturday 8:30 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 18:30, and Sunday 9:00 to 12:00; Phu Quoc Luxury Dental Clinic does not publish its hours. If you want to bundle, ask for a scale and polish in the morning and a longer consult in the afternoon.

How It Combines With the Trip

A check-up and clean is the easiest dental appointment to fit into a Phu Quoc holiday. There is no recovery, no soft food, no sun avoidance. Same-day swimming, beach, spa and Sun World are all fine. The only restrictions are the standard ones: skip dark coffee, red wine, and curry for 24 hours after a polish if you want the brightness to last.

No. The clinic can take new ones on the day. If you have recent X-rays from home, bring them on a USB or send them through SmileJet, as they may save you a new film.

Will I be told to do work I do not need?
