Dr. Andrew McAllister is one of Australia's most experienced implantologists, with 29 years of focused clinical practice in dental implant surgery, full-arch reconstruction, and complex oral rehabilitation. Based in Brisbane, he has built a career defined by precision surgical technique and a commitment to evidence-based implant protocols.
After graduating from the University of Queensland, Dr. McAllister pursued advanced postgraduate training in oral rehabilitation at the University of Melbourne, where his research focused on occlusal loading patterns in implant-supported prostheses. He went on to earn his FRACDS and later completed a fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, cementing his credentials in the global implant community. In 2004, he spent a year at NYU's College of Dentistry completing advanced training in bone augmentation and sinus lift procedures under some of the most respected names in American implantology.
Over his career, Dr. McAllister has placed more than 15,000 dental implants and has completed over 900 full-arch All-on-4 and All-on-6 cases. He founded the Brisbane Implant Centre in 2001, which has grown into a multidisciplinary referral hub receiving complex cases from general dentists across Queensland and Northern New South Wales. The centre was among the first in Australia to adopt fully guided digital implant surgery using intraoral scanning, CBCT planning, and 3D-printed surgical guides.
Academically, Dr. McAllister served as a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Queensland School of Dentistry from 2003 to 2016, where he supervised implant training for postgraduate students and ran a weekly implant seminar series. He has published 38 peer-reviewed articles in journals including Clinical Oral Implants Research, the International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants, and the Australian Dental Journal. He has been an invited speaker at over 70 international conferences, including the ITI World Symposium, the European Association for Osseointegration Congress, and the Asia Pacific Implant Dentistry Conference.
He holds active memberships with the Australian Dental Association, the Australian Osseointegration Society, the International Team for Implantology (ITI), and the Academy of Osseointegration. Dr. McAllister serves on SmileJet's Board of Excellence as the lead advisor on implant surgical standards, overseeing partner clinic evaluation for implant placement protocols, guided surgery adoption, bone grafting techniques, and long-term implant survival tracking across Vietnam, Thailand, and Mexico.
