UMP Dental Specialist Outpatient Clinic

I have to give a lot of praise to the High-Tech Dental Treatment Unit - UMP Dental Clinic. I don't know about everyone else's experience, but I found everything here excellent. I had a slightly difficult wisdom tooth extraction that required minor surgery, and the doctor who performed it was Dr. Khanh. He was extremely caring and meticulous. He would let me know when he was about to inject, extract, drill, or scrape, so I could prepare myself mentally. His voice was soft and gentle, and the nurse assisting him was also very cheerful. The student who helped with the extraction (his name was something like Wong, Minh Hieu) was also enthusiastic in suctioning out the fluid and blood to make the procedure go smoothly. I wish him a speedy graduation and that he becomes a skilled doctor like Dr. Khanh. Dr. Khanh was caring, but his hands were incredibly strong; he used prying, levering, and drilling to get my tooth out. So, to be frank, for me, someone who hadn't been to a dental clinic in over 15 years since having my baby teeth extracted, my experience here was extremely good. It doesn't have a perfect 10, but regarding the long wait time, I think if you go during the week (my shift was Friday), you'll get served extremely quickly. I waited less than 15 minutes for the procedures. Overall, it was very, very good.

My wisdom tooth extraction experience was terrible, incredibly painful, a really sharp, throbbing pain. It took a long time, it's a traumatic experience; I guess the dentist wasn't skilled, making it both painful and time-consuming. The person assisting had to hold my mouth open, and it was incredibly painful, leaving my mouth red and torn at the corners. 💔💔💔

It's regrettable that a place with expertise lacks professionalism. This is one of several large, long-established hospitals in Saigon suffering from this lack of professionalism. People trust in their expertise and reasonable prices, which is why they come here. The lack of professionalism is systemic, not just limited to one department. My feedback is simply to encourage a review of professionalism and not to let high expertise give them the right to be unprofessional. To pinpoint exactly where the lack of professionalism is occurring would be a lengthy explanation, and previous reviews have already clearly reflected it, but it seems this is a long-standing and intractable problem.

I was examined within 15 minutes, everyone spoke softly and kindly, the doctor examined me thoroughly, and wrote down the treatment plan and costs in great detail. My first visit was excellent.

The clinic is excellent, with skilled doctors from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy. I've been choosing Dr. Vien for my dental treatment for the past 6 years. I'm very satisfied with the doctor's expertise, his kindness, and the clinic's services.

Yes, I came to the dentist today. I forgot my wallet and knew they accept bank transfers for parking (because I've been coming here for 4 years), but strangely, even though they DO accept bank transfers, when I tried to transfer the money, the security guard yelled at me: "You look like that and you don't even have 5,000 dong?" :)) When I asked to transfer the money, I politely said, "Excuse me, could I please transfer the money?" The clinic itself is very good, but this kind of security guard is really disappointing.

I'm not commenting on the doctor's expertise, but my experience with the procedures and processes at the clinic was unsatisfactory. The billing, records, and insurance claim forms were unclear, causing patients to waste a lot of time. When collecting insurance claim forms, patients had to fill out the information themselves, wait for processing, and then return to pick them up later, which was quite inconvenient and time-consuming. Furthermore, when I went for a filling, I was directed upstairs to get the records, only to be told that the records weren't given to patients and that the downstairs staff had to retrieve them themselves. This back-and-forth guidance was cumbersome and wasted unnecessary time for patients. I hope the clinic will review the coordination between departments, provide clearer instructions, and simplify procedures to improve the patient experience.

I had my check-up on the morning of February 27, 2026. It wasn't very crowded after Tet (Lunar New Year), I admit the wait to be called was a bit long, but I think there was a reason for it. The check-up fee was still 50k VND. Teeth cleaning was 500k VND. The doctor was very attentive, demonstrating how to use dental floss, showing me how to brush my teeth, and advising me to avoid habits that harm my teeth. I've been here a few times, but this was the first time I'd been treated so thoughtfully - I wonder if it was a special day 😂 While waiting, I heard a few doctors speaking a bit loudly to patients, so I concluded that there are all kinds of doctors here, but I think every doctor wants their patients to get well soon, it's just that some doctors are a bit short-tempered =))) As for the long wait, I guess it's because the doctors had to give instructions to patients and answer questions. Like the doctors from the health insurance clinic, they didn't have time to explain because there were too many patients.

I chose this clinic because I work in the same field and trust the tradition of YDS. I didn't make an appointment beforehand because when I called earlier, they said it wasn't necessary. I rushed over from work at the hospital to get my dental check-up and then go home for dinner… The result was that I sat there watching everyone in the waiting area (regardless of who arrived after me) go in before me. I didn't request a specific doctor; anyone was fine, but what I got was watching people (who arrived after me) go in for their dental check-ups for over an hour. When I asked, they said it was shift change (the receptionist was different from the one who initially received me), but instead of reassuring me and informing me which doctor was working, how long it would take, and how many cases would be served, she ignored me and told me to wait longer. Currently, after more than an hour, I've counted 6 people who arrived after me but went in before me.
