Svedent is a specialist dental clinic in Sofia, Bulgaria, co-founded approximately 15 years ago by Dr. Svetoslav Velichkov and Dr. Denitsa Kafelova, two dentists who graduated from the Medical University of Sofia and built the practice around a shared commitment to high-standard, patient-centered dentistry. From its inception, the clinic has placed particular emphasis on four areas: aesthetic and restorative dentistry, implantology, periodontics, and endodontics -- and has assembled a team of dedicated specialists to deliver excellence in each of these fields.
The clinic's philosophy is built on the understanding that every patient comes with unique anatomical, aesthetic, and personal requirements. Clinical decisions at Svedent are never generic -- they are shaped by thorough consultation, detailed diagnostic examination, and a genuine effort to understand what each patient needs and expects from their treatment. The team views dental practice not just as a clinical operation but as a modern service center where patient care, guidance, and communication are as important as technical skill.
The Clinical Team
Dr. Svetoslav Velichkov is a co-founder and the clinic's lead implantologist. A graduate of the Medical University of Sofia with a master's degree in dental medicine, Dr. Velichkov has completed extensive postgraduate training and specializes in implantology and aesthetic dentistry. His expertise encompasses single and multiple implant placement, complex implant-supported prosthetics, and the integration of implant treatment within full-mouth aesthetic rehabilitation plans.
Dr. Denitsa Kafelova is the clinic's specialist in periodontics and periodontal surgery. A co-founder alongside Dr. Velichkov, she has pursued deep postgraduate training in gum disease treatment and periodontal surgery. Dr. Kafelova is also highly skilled in pink aesthetics -- the management of gum tissue appearance as a component of smile design -- which she integrates into complex treatment plans that require both hard and soft tissue refinement to achieve an ideal aesthetic result.
Dr. Mila Gorbunova has been part of the Svedent team since graduating from the Dental Faculty of the Medical University of Sofia in 2009. She focuses primarily on pediatric dentistry and orthodontics, working with both children and adults on teeth alignment using removable appliances including trainers, splints, and clear aligners, as well as fixed orthodontic systems in both metal and aesthetic bracket options. Dr. Gorbunova frequently contributes to the clinic's team-based multidisciplinary treatment plans.
Dr. Bozhidar Kafelov joined Svedent in 2009 as an endodontist and has dedicated his career to root canal treatment and aesthetic composite restorations. He is recognized beyond the clinic as an educator, having lectured and taught courses in Bulgaria and internationally on endodontics and composite restorative dentistry since 2011. His teaching role reflects the depth of expertise he brings to clinical practice at Svedent.
Dr. Roksana Todorova has been a member of the team since 2012, the same year she won the student endodontics competition at the Sofia Dental Meeting. She graduated from the Dental Faculty of the Medical University of Sofia in 2013 and has since developed her professional focus in endodontics, the restoration of endodontically treated teeth, and aesthetic dentistry.
Services
Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry: Every procedure that restores the integrity and function of teeth falls within restorative dentistry, and at Svedent this category is approached with a strong aesthetic sensibility. Crowns, veneers, composite bonding, inlays, and onlays are all available, designed and placed with meticulous attention to shape, color, and how they integrate with the surrounding dentition and gum tissue.
Implantology: Svedent's implant service covers single tooth replacement, multi-tooth rehabilitation, and full-arch restoration. Implants are planned using modern imaging and are placed by Dr. Velichkov with a focus on long-term stability and natural aesthetics. Pre-implant preparation including bone grafting is available where necessary.
Periodontics: Led by Dr. Kafelova, the periodontal program addresses all stages of gum disease from initial gingivitis to advanced periodontitis requiring surgical management. The integration of pink aesthetics into treatment planning ensures that the gum environment around restored or implant-supported teeth achieves both health and an attractive appearance.
Endodontics: Root canal treatment by Dr. Kafelov and Dr. Todorova draws on deep specialist expertise and postgraduate training. The endodontic team manages complex cases including retreatments, calcified canals, and perforations, with a focus on saving natural teeth and providing high-quality composite restorations afterward.
Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Oral Surgery, and Prophylaxis complete the clinic's comprehensive offering, ensuring that patients and families can access all essential dental services in one trusted location. Svedent's multidisciplinary team approach means that complex cases involving multiple specialties are handled with the kind of coordinated care that produces lasting, well-planned results.
