Dear Ilia, Thank you for your feedback, it is really important. However, I wonder, why did you write it - 2 years AFTER your last visit at the clinic? Since it remains unclear and mysterious, I would like to explain our way of consultations and how we take in first-visit patients that have never been to the clinic before. When a patient visits our clinic for the first time (especially with pain like in your case), we take the necessary information to reach a correct diagnosis which in turn will dictate the protocol of treatment. Literally the right diagnosis leads to the right treatment. Based on this information, we prepare a treatment plan either for a single tooth or more complex plan involving multiple teeth. We aim to INFORM before we PERFORM hence we give you the maximum information about the procedures that need to be performed and their costs, not just verbally but also in written form thus we can plan the most appropriate measures. Whether we carry out one procedure or the entire plan it is entirely up to you and is your decision as a patient. In your case, as a first visit patient, as discussed above, our protocol is to take Intraoral pictures and Panoramic x-ray to best see where the pain is coming from (correct diagnosis). When a patient presents with a pain it is generally considered an emergency at the clinic, however in your case, the gums were very inflamed and in such cases we advise the patient to undergo a dental cleaning to bring down the bacterial level in the mouth and to reduce the inflammation. Please understand that it is against all dental protocols and established dental practices to perform a dental treatment with gums that are inflamed and prone to bleeding. This was all the time that we had for a first visit in your case. In the meantime we send an email with the treatment plan based on your wishes and desires but also based on sound dental and medical practice regarding further caries and infections in your mouth. It is our duty by law to write down everything that we see on the photographs and x-ray. The patient must be informed! On the second visit, we target the problematic tooth and based on the diagnosis, the doctor has plenty of time to perform correct treatment. During your initial visit, you were charged only for the dental cleaning and for the Panoramic x-ray, but not for the consultation and not for the treatment plan. We believe in transparency, dialogue and we are very honest and forthcoming with our patients. Regarding your second appointment, we understand that you had a holiday coming, but usually when a patient is in pain, the last thing that they do is go on a vacation. This means that either you had pain that was gone after the cleaning (job well done for all of us - our protocol is working) or despite you having pain, you decided not to come to your second appointment to us (for which the doctor had booked 2 hours) and go to a vacation nevertheless, where another dentist during your holiday was able to fix the problem - then this “pain” is not an emergency but rather inconvenience and treatment can be delayed at later appointment after the holiday. Please understand, when a patient is in pain, he/she does not negotiate when to come (they come 1 hour before the next appointment and postpone other engagements and holidays). A patient in pain, never says I will come back in a week or two after my holiday. The focus that I would like to emphasise, respectfully, is that pain and holiday are incompatible. We are very sorry as a team that we were not given the opportunity to solve the dental issue that you had however, should you need any further assistance please do not hesitate to get back to us. He and Stefan Petrov have specialized in restoring the smiles of our patients through veneers, crowns or implants - it depends on what the patient needs.
