After carefully reviewing our records from your visit in December 2023, our dentist noted deep fissures on the lower right molars. However, at that time, your child’s overall oral hygiene was relatively good. As part of our approach to pediatric care, we prioritize building rapport and minimizing potential trauma—especially during a child’s first visit with us. For this reason, no immediate invasive treatment was deemed necessary. Instead, we applied fluoride to strengthen the enamel and prevent early-stage cavities from progressing. We also recommended maintaining good oral hygiene, a balanced diet, and using Tooth Mousse for additional protection. While we sincerely regret the progression of your child’s dental issues, cavities in young children can be unpredictable and influenced by multiple factors, including diet, hygiene habits, and overall oral care between visits. Additionally, as it has been a year since your last appointment, cavities may have developed during this time. This is why we always emphasize preventive measures and the importance of regular check-ups to monitor any changes early on. We truly empathize with your frustration and regret any distress caused. Upon examination, the doctor noted that the dislodged filling was large and that there was an impacted wisdom tooth behind it. Due to the size of the cavity and the presence of the impacted tooth, an X-ray was recommended. As part of our standard protocol, we always inform patients and obtain consent before proceeding with an X-ray. The X-ray revealed that the cavity was close to the nerve, which might eventually require a root canal. However, as there were no current symptoms, the doctor opted to attempt a filling first. If any discomfort or pain arises, a root canal would indeed be necessary. We want to emphasize that we strive to provide quality care and never intentionally mislead or overcharge our patients. To clarify the charges: • RM30: Consultation • RM150: OPG X-ray • RM250: Filling We understand that you inquired about the cost of a filling before your visit, and we sincerely apologize for any confusion or frustration caused. The X-ray was a crucial step in ensuring an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment, particularly for deep fillings such as yours.
