A specialist in orthodontics, Dr. Karla Amaral is undoubtedly an excellent dentist. She has been taking care of my smile, my oral health, and why not say, my self-esteem? In her clinic, I found confidence, professionalism, and a humanized service from the moment I arrived at reception. only noticed it when the clenching was so strong that it reached a level of pain that often paralyzed me. The pain radiated from my teeth to my TMJ, cheeks, neck... Daily I felt muscle spasms in my cheeks, in other areas of my face, pain in the back of my neck, my teeth were very sore, the joint creaked excessively, pain and tinnitus in my ears. And so, I lived, between better days (with a decrease in these symptoms), and worse days (where the symptoms became established, in a way that, in addition to the physical discomfort, began to bother me psychologically). Biofeedback has provided me with a significant and gradual improvement. Since the first session, the symptoms have minimized each day. After 5 sessions, I can already effortlessly identify when my muscles tense up and, above all, how to relax them. The gamified approach of the software, besides being dynamic, is attractive and easy to understand and use, as it offers a game interface, something so ubiquitous in our daily lives. After all, who hasn't played an RPG, Nintendo, smartphone app games, or Playstation?! In this way, Biofeedback skillfully brings the game as an alternative to treatment. The device is lightweight and comfortable. It didn't bother me, even on days when I was in pain. Today, I can say that for a long time, even with the use of the muscle relaxant splint for years, I am in one of the best phases of my dysfunction. As the pain has decreased drastically, the spasms and contractions, which were almost daily, have become sporadic. The feeling of fatigue has also improved greatly. Furthermore, I have more and more control over the force that makes me clench my teeth. Before, I had no idea how to control or how I should act to control the muscles. Finally, I try to practice what I learn in each session daily so that I can memorize it and make the muscle relaxation movement as strong, intense, and continuous as the tension movement. And so far, the treatment has undoubtedly changed my quality of life.

Other dentists I consulted before speaking with Dr. Karla generally advised surgical treatment, as they considered my case more serious. When I spoke with Dr. Karla, she simply asked if my only discomfort was aesthetic, and since that was exactly my situation, because despite the appearance, my crooked teeth and the fact that my mouth was a little smaller did not cause any physical discomfort, she recommended normal orthodontic treatment with the use of fixed braces.
