The best part was that the night guard came out correctly on the first attempt! I am very grateful for this clinic for giving a high standard of care to both MX and US patients. I am happy to be aware that my new prosthesis will support my implants until I am ready for the permanent fixed zirconia dentures. Dr Alvarez is a caring dentist & expert implantologist. Bianca was my patient coordinator & office manager. Please make sure you understand that after surgery the first set of temporary implants you can only eat soft food for 2 months, My point here is that you can trust Dr Alvarez expertise for the implants surgery. We set a date, and two crowns were to be placed (one over buildup of the tooth, the other diagnosed with decay at the base of the original crown) over the course of 2 days. Preliminary work morning the 1st day, permanent crowns installed the next afternoon (a small fee for expedited manufacture from the lab upstairs). The office staff was welcoming and efficient- they and the main clinical providers spoke good English. Dr. Sanchez, who treated me, is a young man who is very friendly, competent and efficient, with a reassuring chairside manner. He presented me with a revised estimate which saved me $300- he eliminated an unnecessary procedure that had initially been included, and recommended a more durable material for the crowns (as well as correcting a diagnosis). He answered my many questions with patience and good humor. The imaging center is stand alone, half a block down the street, very up-to-date radiographic and CT capability. The treatment areas are comparable to any modern US clinic: advanced technologically, well equipped and sanitary. In fact, the molds for my crowns were not done physically, but rather with a hand held imager with a blue light moved through my mouth. The new crowns fit perfectly first try, and the color matched my existing teeth. In addition, I got CT imaging and a consult for a possible molar implant (with the money I saved on the initial treatment) that cost just a little over a $100. The estimate for that treatment is $3K, including a bone graft (assume at least $10K in the US). A very young implant specialist, but he seemed knowledgeable and answered all my questions thouroghly using sophisticated graphics from the scans. In all, I'm very satisfied with the level of treatment and care received at Dental Alvarez. On to some logistics... From SLO county CA, I visited friends in OC first, and booked a room in Chula Vista. I took the San Diego Blue Line trolley to San Ysidro at the border, and walked across both days. I met a couple of patients who had driven down from different LA cities. The very friendly shuttle driver from the clinic (Agustin) picked me up and dropped me off. $5-7 cab fare to office. I have had travel experience since I was a child, speak passable Spanish and have a current passport, so I was a prepared for the border crossings (but didn't bring quite enough patience😬 for US Customs!) Long story for another time, but the local hack for frequent border crossers is the SENTRI program from US Customs (like Global Entry for air travel) especially if you're from Southern California, or don't mind the extra expense, $120 for five years. No-brainer if you'll be doing multiple trips: the line moves right along by foot, dedicated car lane. If you're considering dental tourism to TJ, I highly recommend Dental Alvarez. In addition to visiting friends and getting my teeth fixed, I also had the opportunity to do some fall touring in San Diego.

e waiting and the two crowns they did for me failed and needed to be redone after a year. So I looked to Mexico for dental treatment. Dental Alvarez has all the high tech equipment that you’d find in an elite dental office. Their standards meet or surpass anything you’d find in the US. And their staff is so kind and considerate. Everyone - the schedulers, the front desk girls, the hygienists, assistants, dentists, dental surgeons have gone above and beyond for me. Even the maintenance guy acted as my personal chauffeur. That’s probably a perk they don’t offer standard, but I fractured my ankle on an uneven sidewalk in another part of TJ, and the staff stepped up for me the whole time I was recovering. Also, I speak almost no Spanish, but everyone on staff speaks at least a little English, and many are completely fluent. Prices are about 1/2 of what you would pay in the US, and that is definitely the incentive for making an initial visit, but the quality and level of service will keep you coming back.

mouth was too small and I kept gagging. She got so frustrated that she got up and took a break from her chair. Someone else had to come help her. I apologized as I felt so embarrassed. The first part of the implant process whent great, no pain, no swelling and I healed fast. I was so grateful but When my implats were finished i felt pain all around the implants. I went back the next week and she said I was not flossing right. I was using the water pick. Anyway I followed her instructions and I went back still in pain...she said the gums did not go high enough and I had to wait for it to make some callito (that was her word) 9 months later they still hurt. Im going to a different place to get another evaluation. She gets upset when you question her. She gets defensive like if you are blaming her just for asking why it hurts. She always blamed me for not doing something.... my mouth is too small, my gums didnt grow enough, my bone graft was already done by someone else... etc.. but at the initial estimate appointment she said all look good and she could do it.

been 6 days WITHOUT a prosthesis, ALERT check patient reviews before hiring them, I will go to another dentist, they say they have a state of the art LAB, I don't believe it, my prosthesis SUCKS! BE WARE this dentist lacks communication after you pay or if you have issues. After implants were done (12) Dr Alvarez did a POOR job with prosthesis, Dr Alvarez is not capable of completing paid services, I am not able to eat or speak, personnel not helpful, they gave an attitude, this is my 6th day without prosthesis, I had enough, will get my prosthesis done right at another office, September 2, 2025.

e best possible treatment for my situation. Definitely will continue relationship with Dr Horacio Zarrabal at Dental Alvarez office and would recommend it to everyone. I also have to say that the staff at the front desk and the administrative workers were very nice, professional, helpful and polite. Especially Bianca Gutierrez who helped me with the paperwork and explained me how to file a claim with my insurance.

and all the work done I would say was high quality. Plus the communications with Bianca were great; she was quick to reply and answered all my questions regarding procedures and costs, and there was no surprise. So definitely recomend Dental Alvarez for their attentiveness, affordabillity and quality work.

Everything was made very clear to us and they clarified anything when she had questions. They picked us up right at the border and got an Uber for us back to the border for free. The receptionist was very nice and made sure we knew what to do and were taken care of. Dr. Andres and Dental Alvarez got it done for around $1000 while American dentists were quoting us for $3000-5000. They basically saved my girlfriend's life as an infection was starting and there was no way we could afford it in America. Very thankful for Dr. Andres and the team at Dental Alvarez.
