Important — about this score

Please read before drawing conclusions about this clinic.

This score is an automated, opinion-based assessment generated by SmileJet's proprietary AI algorithm from publicly available information — including aggregated third-party reviews, clinic-published materials, and other open-source signals. It is not a statement of verified fact, a professional medical opinion, or an endorsement, and individual experiences may differ.

How the algorithm penalises scores

Our methodology applies score reductions where signals are detected that, in the algorithm's assessment, may indicate: unverifiable or potentially overstated claims about clinical experience or credentials; review patterns the model flags as inconsistent with organic user behaviour; or limited independent corroboration of marketing statements.

12.14 January. 2021. 👎🏿If your tooth hurt so much that you decided to have it extracted, don't count on this clinic - when you call, they will apologize that they can't see you....! They will tell you to make an appointment the day before... 👍🏻 Everything else is top-notch, from cleanliness to prices! Ask for Mamuka, Gogiberidze, if you don't know who to go to! He's a great doctor! ... And special thanks to his wife, Doctor Sopho! She has a golden hand👍🏻 You can't park your car in the yard, and if you still manage to, don't go near the entrance, you will be scolded by the head of the clinic😂

I’m going to get upset again just writing this. I went here on the recommendation of a friend of mine. I’ve had some tooth pain for a long time, and have seen multiple dentists, but it is still there. I was told the doctor I tried to get an appointment with was great because she listens and explains the procedures she thinks will work. I went to my appointment yesterday with this in mind. I explained what was happening and the doctor barely listened to me. She sent me for xrays talked to me for five minutes, then said, okay, sit in the chair and we will have a look. Imagine my surprise when she gave me anesthesia and then STARTED DRILLING ON MY TOOTH. I was not consulted or asked about what was going on and she ended up giving me a root canal. That’s right, I was basically given a surprise root canal. I got answers to none of my questions and am still in the same pain I was in prior to my appointment yesterday, but 375 lari poorer and very upset by this experience. I’m sure I’m going to have to get my tooth repaired somewhere else as well. After this nightmare experience, I was waiting to pay and they had me wait 30 minutes with no explanation. My recommendation is to stay far away from this place and go to any other dentist.

Best dentist I've ever been to. I felt very well understood and taken care of. The principle of "first do no harm" is upheld here. Instead of pulling otherwise perfectly healthy teeth as others suggested to me, here I got proper treatment last year and never had issues ever again.

The check up costed 25 GEL p.P. and if you need a new filling it is about 75-85 GEL per tooth. Our dentist was really great, she spoke perfect english and is a very lovely and careing person. The whole atmosphere is professional. Thank you soo much!! We definetly recommend to go here!

I have received dental hygiene services here number of times. Always timely, extremely clean and the dentist gives the most useful tips about oral health. Be sure to book in advance. You will need a little help to get there, but there is a parking lot and google maps has improved. It's not a far walk up hill from the main rustaveli at near the opera house.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is periodontology and why does it matter before getting dental implants?
Periodontology is the dental specialty focused on the health of the gums, the bone surrounding teeth, and the soft tissues that support them. Before implants can be placed, the periodontist must confirm that active gum disease has been treated and that sufficient healthy bone exists to anchor the implant. Placing implants in a mouth with untreated periodontitis dramatically increases the risk of peri-implantitis, an infection around the implant that can cause bone loss and implant failure. Albius Dental Center in Tbilisi has pioneered modern periodontology standards in Georgia, and its team evaluates periodontal health as a prerequisite for any implant case. This sequencing protects the patient's investment and is the reason Albius is trusted for complex, multi-stage treatment plans.
How does Albius Dental Center treat gum disease before beginning cosmetic dental work?
At Albius Dental Center, the clinical rule is that gum health must be achieved and stabilised before any cosmetic or restorative work begins. Active periodontitis causes inflammation and bleeding in the gum tissue, which means that veneers, crowns, or implants placed on top of diseased gums will not seat correctly and may fail early. Albius begins with a thorough periodontal assessment, including probing depths and bone level X-rays. Where disease is present, treatment may include professional scaling and root planing, antibacterial irrigation, and in some cases minor surgical intervention to access deeper deposits. Only once a re-assessment confirms the gums are healthy and stable does the treatment plan progress to restorative or aesthetic phases. This approach reflects the clinic's founding principle of building on a healthy foundation.
What does it mean that Albius Dental Center was founded by the Georgian Dental Association President?
Albius Dental Center was founded by Ketevan Gogilashvili, who serves as President of the Georgian Dental Association. This is a significant credential for patients choosing a Tbilisi clinic. The Georgian Dental Association sets clinical standards, continuing education requirements, and ethical guidelines for the profession across the country. Its president is, by definition, a recognised leader in Georgian dentistry and someone whose clinical judgement and professional standing are held to the highest standard. Patients at Albius Dental Center benefit from a culture of clinical rigour that flows from the top down. It also signals that the clinic's periodontology protocols are not only in line with current best practice but have likely helped shape what best practice means in Georgia.
How does Albius Dental Center take a holistic approach to mouth health?
Albius Dental Center treats the mouth as an interconnected system rather than a collection of individual teeth. The clinic's periodontology-first philosophy means that bone support, gum health, bite function, and soft tissue condition are all evaluated before any single treatment decision is made. A patient presenting for a cosmetic concern at Albius will have the underlying biological environment assessed first. If gum recession, bone loss, or occlusal issues are found, these are factored into the treatment plan. This multidisciplinary perspective, combining periodontology with restorative and aesthetic dentistry, means that work done at Albius is built on a stable foundation that is more likely to remain healthy and functional over years. The clinic's founder, Ketevan Gogilashvili, has championed this integrated approach as a defining standard for modern dentistry in Georgia.
When should a dental patient see a periodontist before seeing a general dentist or implant surgeon?
A patient should see a periodontist first if they have bleeding gums, receding gumlines, loose teeth, bad breath that persists after brushing, or a history of gum disease. These are signs of active periodontal disease that must be resolved before any restorative or surgical work is attempted. At Albius Dental Center in Tbilisi, the intake process screens for these indicators and routes patients to the appropriate specialist at the right stage. International patients in particular benefit from this triage approach because arriving for implant surgery with untreated gum disease would mean deferring the planned procedure. Albius has established periodontology as a clinical foundation at the clinic, which means patients receive an honest assessment of where they are in the treatment sequence before commitments are made.
What is scaling and root planing and when does Albius Dental Center use this treatment?
Scaling and root planing is a non-surgical periodontal treatment used to remove bacterial deposits from below the gumline. Scaling removes calculus and plaque from the tooth surface and the pocket around the tooth. Root planing smooths the root surface to remove toxin-embedded cementum and discourage bacterial reattachment. Albius Dental Center uses this procedure as the first-line active treatment for patients with moderate to advanced chronic periodontitis, where bacteria have colonised the pockets around teeth and begun to cause bone loss. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia and is typically spread across two to four appointments to allow the gum tissue to respond. Albius reassesses pocket depths after healing to determine whether the disease has been resolved or whether further intervention is needed.
How does Albius Dental Center assess bone loss before recommending implants?
Before recommending implant treatment, Albius Dental Center conducts a comprehensive bone assessment using periapical X-rays and, where needed, a cone beam CT scan to evaluate three-dimensional bone volume. Bone loss caused by periodontitis or prolonged tooth absence reduces the available bone for implant anchorage. The periodontology team at Albius interprets these images to determine whether the available bone is sufficient, whether grafting is required, and whether the timing of implant placement needs to follow a period of disease stabilisation. This pre-implant periodontal assessment is a clinical standard that Albius has championed within Georgia, consistent with its founder Ketevan Gogilashvili's role in shaping national dental guidelines. Patients receive a clear explanation of the bone assessment findings before any surgical planning proceeds.
How does Albius Dental Center coordinate multidisciplinary treatment across periodontology and other specialties?
Albius Dental Center operates as a multifunctional clinic where periodontists, implant surgeons, and restorative dentists share patient records and discuss cases together. When a patient requires a combination of treatments, a joint consultation determines the correct sequence and timing. For example, a patient needing implants in a site affected by bone loss may require periodontal surgery, a healing period, bone grafting, and then implant placement, all managed within a single coordinated plan. Albius avoids the fragmented referral model where a patient is passed between unconnected practitioners and must manage their own care coordination. The clinic's founding philosophy, shaped by its founder Ketevan Gogilashvili, is that patients deserve seamless specialist care under one roof.
How do periodontology specialist fees at Albius Dental Center compare with the UK?
Periodontal treatment with a specialist in the UK is expensive regardless of whether it is delivered through the NHS or privately. A full course of non-surgical periodontal treatment in the UK can cost between 800 and 2,500 pounds depending on the number of sessions and the severity of disease. Surgical periodontal procedures such as osseous surgery or guided tissue regeneration can cost considerably more. Albius Dental Center in Tbilisi delivers the same specialist-level periodontology, with treatment led by clinicians trained to European standards, at a fraction of these prices. For UK patients who have been told they need complex periodontal work before implants, combining that treatment with their implant journey in Georgia at Albius can represent very significant savings.
How does Albius Dental Center help patients maintain gum health long-term after treatment?
Albius Dental Center builds a long-term maintenance plan into every periodontology case. After active disease treatment is complete and healthy gum levels are confirmed, patients are placed on a supportive periodontal therapy schedule, typically every three to six months depending on individual risk factors. During these visits, professional cleaning, pocket re-measurement, and reassessment of home care habits are carried out. Albius provides patients with personalised oral hygiene instructions tailored to their specific anatomy, including recommendations on interdental brushes, electric toothbrushes, and antimicrobial rinses where appropriate. For international patients who cannot return to Tbilisi regularly, Albius provides a detailed written maintenance protocol that can be carried out at a local dentist and includes guidance on when to seek urgent care.
