Had a filling put in which ended up being quite deep, was really impressed as I did not feel any pain. Was given a great explanation as to what they would be doing and a great communication afterwards regarding the procedure. Very friendly and welcome would recommend

I had a great experience at Merivale Dental Group. The staff was friendly, professional, and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. Megan took the time to explain everything clearly and ensured I was at ease throughout the procedure. The office was clean, well-organized, and ran on time. Hygienist visit - It was interesting to me to be back in a very plain room, looking a bit shabby, painted in a grey green colour and with a basic, plain fluorescent light on the ceiling. It brought back the horrors of the NZ Dental Nurse as a kid. My recent experiences elsewhere (NZ & US) have had tvs on the ceiling, headphones, music, windows. One Dentist was singing along with the 80’s hits. Bright, lovely colors on the ceiling, attractive lighting. I know which one I prefer. I’ll go back to them. 3 stars because the staff were pleasant.

Response from the owner 3 months agoHi Trish, I'm pleased to hear that you found our team to be pleasant. I'm sorry that the experience wasn't up to your usual standard. We are incredibly embarrassed about the state of the walls and ceilings in our clinics, but unfortunately it is out of our control. We are still waiting on our landlords to complete the earthquake repairs to the common areas of our building including the basement and lift. We have been advised that these should finally be complete in February 2026. In spite of repeated reminders to each different property manager over the last 14 years they have declined to sort the repairs to our tenancy until the main building ones are sorted. Unfortunately we have no way to compel them to act. Once their repairs are done, which involves some gib replacement, ceiling work and a full repaint it will be looking fresh and tidy and we will be able to install tvs on the ceiling. Our insurance will not cover the cost of doing this as it is the landlords responsibility. We have considered paying for the work ourselves, but have preferred to invest in our team and high quality equipment we see this as being more important to providing top quality patient care and we also conscious of striking a balance to keep our costs down as much as possible. If you were to come back and see us again in 6 months to a year I am optimistic that the work will have been undertaken and we will have a vastly improved appearance.

My dentist for 10 years, absolutely fantastic, both the dental service with David and also teeth cleaning with Megan. I tend to be a bit picky because one of my parents is a dentist and I also have sensitive teeth (ironic), so good dental care is a must. This place is great :)

I have just finished up major dental work with David and his lovely assistant at Merivale Dental Group and I wanted to leave a review of the fantastic experience I’ve had. I haven’t been their easiest patient and came in for a consultation with major dentist anxiety ( very negative experience at a my previous dentist ) and tooth decay due poor choices on my part. David was warm and non judgemental and reassured me that I could have heathy pain free teeth again. After many appointments I can truly say I feel the best I have in years and am not afraid of the dentist anymore! Also special mention to Luccia in reception for putting up with my many phone calls, you are amazing! We’ve definitely found our new family dentist. Thanks so much guys.
