. Chatnarong assured me he knew what he was doing, and a Michigan splint / flat bite plane was a good option for my case. I felt reassured and consented. This was a naive mistake. Chatnarong ignored what I said and went by what he thought he knew and could see, forcing my misaligned jaw shut onto the impression material with both hands and forcing a centerline match between my upper and lower incisors, which does not work for my jaw. I had told him that. Over time this damaged both jaw joints and forced severe malocclusion, as my jaw was pulled between my correct bite while awake and the wrong bite the splint moved me into at night. I developed persistent TMJ pain and dysfunction across both sides. I was later confirmed to have a dislocated right disc from all this. It was splint therapy—except it dislocated my disc instead of relocating it. I couldn't eat, talk, or even exercise normally anymore. 4–10/10 pain every day. I raised these issues at six appointments over about a year. The second time I went in, I was in so much pain I requested a new splint be made at my expense. Amazingly, it was even worse, as Chatnarong added more vertical dimension, forcing more dislocation of my right jaw joint. I switched back to the previous splint; he brushed it off. When the first one chipped and needed repair, he sold me a temporary soft splint that I only wore twice, as it caused eye-watering jaw pain both times due to him incorrectly positioning my jaw for the mold again for a Michigan splint, which is contraindicated for my case history. I received no response when I raised these issues. He led me to believe the pain was from grinding the splint so hard at night. I later realized I was stress-grinding (more and more as this continued) while the splint itself forced my jaw into a dislocated position. No wonder it hurt so much. I wish I had had a doctor to help me with that. I continued bringing these issues up as they grew more severe over time. At my last appointment with Chatnarong, I complained that my bite was off to the point I had premature contact on literally only my first molars on the left side. He simply said "you might need to get braces again" in a disinterested tone. I finally realized that despite my desire to trust this person as a medical professional, he was a disinterested charlatan that didn't see any responsibility to actually help his patient, or was wholly incapable. The dislocated disc combined with the misaligned splint was so bad that over just one year I ended up with wear marks through enamel on my left side from trying to eat normally, while continuing to wear the splint to protect from nighttime bruxing. I gave up on trusting that Chatnarong knew anything about orthodontia or cared at all about my case, and am on the path to recovery somewhere else. If you want to pay to experience needless 10/10 pain, gross negligence, and uncaring dental "care," I recommend Chatnarong. If you choose to go with Chatnarong, get a second and third opinion on any treatment plan, and retain all documentation for possible litigation. I'm ashamed I stuck with him for so long. I hope potential patients read this and are inspired to trust themselves more when dealing with negligent medical staff like Chatnarong "Alex" Phatphutthitham. Good luck. Addendum: It has cost over 30k USD so far to fix the repairable damage from this episode, including 14 gingival grafts. I recommend getting dental work done somewhere with actual patient-protection legislation to avoid outcomes like mine. I just wanted a retainer made.
