No. 3, Jalan Sepoy Lines, George Town, Malaysia
Georgetown Ministry of Health Training Institute (Dental) is a public dental facility and professional training centre located at No. 3, Jalan Sepoy Lines, George Town, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia. Operated by the Malaysian Ministry of Health, the institute serves a dual function: delivering dental care services with a focus on children's dental health, and providing structured training for dental auxiliary professionals as part of Malaysia's national oral health workforce development programme.
The institute's official name, Pusat Pergigian Kanak-Kanak and Institut Latihan KKM Georgetown (Pergigian), reflects its two primary mandates. The Children's Dental Centre component is dedicated to the oral health of young patients, providing dental examinations, preventive treatments, and appropriate restorative care in a setting designed to support children's dental health from an early age. Paediatric dental services within the public health system play a vital role in Malaysia's oral health programme by ensuring that children, including those from lower-income families, have access to professional dental care regardless of private clinic costs.
The training institute component operates under the Training Management Division of the Ministry of Health Malaysia, preparing dental auxiliaries including dental nurses and dental therapists to serve in the national dental health system. These professionals form the backbone of Malaysia's public oral health infrastructure, delivering care across government clinics, schools, and community health centres throughout the country. The Georgetown institute is one of the established training facilities in the MOH network, with a long history of contributing to Malaysia's dental public health capacity.
The facility is located at Jalan Sepoy Lines in central George Town, a well-known area near the city's civic and administrative district. The address is accessible by road and within the broader George Town urban area. As a Ministry of Health facility, the institute operates Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm and is closed on weekends and public holidays.
For patients using the public health system in Penang, particularly families with children seeking subsidised dental care, the Georgetown Ministry of Health Training Institute (Dental) represents an important access point for professional oral health services. For SmileJet patients, it is worth noting that this facility serves a different function from private dental clinics: it is primarily a government training and children's dental service facility rather than a full-service private clinic oriented toward elective, cosmetic, or dental tourism treatments. Patients seeking implants, orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry, or other specialist private treatments would typically access these through Penang's established private dental practices.
Malaysia's oral health system is structured across public and private sectors, and the Ministry of Health's network of training institutes and community dental clinics ensures that basic dental care remains accessible to all Malaysians. The Georgetown institute, as part of this national infrastructure, occupies an important role in both service delivery and the professional development of the next generation of dental health workers in Malaysia.

Got a booking date 1 week early. For two children. I went to the walk-in clinic and one person was under booking. I was furious because the nurse in blue (nurse in blue) told me to go out after the treatment. What is the reason for the old nurse in blue? What is the clinic like? My father asked me to go. I'm really confused. When we showed the proof, the nurse in the clinic said two people were under booking and one person said sorry. The other party kept quiet. The one who apologized to the nurse who treated my children. The service was only 2pm until the clinic closed at 4.30 like that.

Excellent government dental facility. This dental clinic provides exceptional service, with special focus on children's oral health. In addition to free check-ups & treatments for primary & secondary school students, the clinic also provide valuable education & training on teeth care (brushing, flossing, gargling etc). The staff (nurses, dentists & the guards) were incredibly helpful & polite, making the entire experience comfortable for young patients. A confirmation letter from the school was all that's needed to book an appointment. Highly recommended!
