Clínica Médis Medicina Dentária Boavista

I hesitated quite a bit to write this review, as I didn't want to criticize the clinic, since I received excellent service. The politeness and friendliness of both the receptionists and the dentists deserve a 10/10. However, unfortunately, the work itself left much to be desired. I initially went to the clinic because I had gum pain, and as a solution, they only recommended a tartar removal and a product that wasn't mandatory. I had the procedure done, but I left the clinic with extremely sore gums as a result of the process (and, in the end, even more painful than when I arrived). Furthermore, the service was very quick and left certain areas with tartar, something I only noticed later. Even so, I insisted on returning a second time, four months later, because the dentist had advised me to wait, stating that the pain would subside with time and that I could (if I wanted) use a simple product to speed up the process. I followed the recommendation throughout this period, but my gums continued to have problems. In the second appointment, which lasted a maximum of two minutes, the dentist only recommended another product (which I have already bought and am using). However, the pain continues now exactly in the spots where my gums were injured during the tartar removal – something that had never happened to me before, since I always had healthy gums, except for that initial moment of pain, which I believe shouldn't have developed this way. In the end, I just wasted money and didn't have my problem solved. I definitely do not recommend it.

I was seen by Dr. Joaquim Cardoso, the clinic's clinical director, and unfortunately, I had a very negative experience. He seemed unwell, lacking any empathy or interest in listening to my case. I felt so uncomfortable that I couldn't even explain all my oral problems because he seemed irritated to hear them. Furthermore, the procedure he performed (root canal cleaning) was done carelessly and hastily, causing me pain even after several days of medication. Not to mention how he spoke about my case as if I couldn't afford it, then he talked about braces (and all I wanted was for the treatment I went for that day to be done correctly). Luckily, I was later seen by Dr. Alice Martins, who demonstrated professionalism, attention, and care. She redid the dressing calmly and humanely—the same procedure, but with a completely different approach. I also want to thank the reception staff and Dr. Ana Martins, who were very kind and professional. I only regret that my first impression was so negative, especially coming from the clinical director.

I am so disappointed with the lack of follow-up and customer care that I choose a service like Medis because it is, in principle, of better quality (considering the insurance I pay for), but unfortunately I cannot continue to condone what they are putting me through. In short, I booked an appointment at the Medis Boavista clinic because I had a toothache. The appointment took a long time to arrive because the client base is huge and the availability is low. On the day, I realized that they had referred me to an evaluation appointment, which also took a long time to arrive because I waited for almost 30 minutes without any satisfaction and in a lot of pain. Instead of treating my tooth, they told me that I had to go to another doctor, and that they didn't have an appointment anytime soon. I paid €40 for an appointment that didn't evaluate me at all, and that didn't do what I needed, which was to treat the tooth. I was desperate, and the receptionist (who handled these issues very well, also within her limitations), managed to get me an urgent appointment for the NEXT DAY. I had the first root canal session. Coincidentally (and here I acknowledge that I failed, but with justifications), on the day my second session was rescheduled, I had a work accident (and I have proof) around 5:30 pm and had to go to the hospital, so I didn't attend that appointment. So I called again to reschedule and once again there is no doctor available UNTIL APRIL. Now my tooth is open, it's already causing me pain, but the doctor responsible for my treatment doesn't seem to be responsible for the situation I have, which is still "halfway"... To whom can I complain about this displeasure and helplessness because none of the clinics have an appointment available, I am in an urgent situation, I pay for insurance that apparently doesn't cover dentistry, and I was even thinking of joining Medis Dental. And now?? I want a solution… For my tooth, which continues to cause pain and a lack of quality of life, for the clinic, which accepts clients without having the capacity to manage them, and for the insurance I pay for, WHICH IS CHEATING ME. It costs me immensely to pay €140 per month when I have no coverage or follow-up. I await answers, because I will not rest until I am contacted with a solution that suits me. Thank you and sorry for the outburst, but I feel overwhelmed by a series of problems.

I had dental filling and cleaning performed at this clinic with Dra. Estela. She was highly professional, attentive, and explained each step clearly. Highly recommended.

I booked an appointment specifically for 8:30 AM to be the first patient and thus avoid any delays, since I start work at 9:30 AM. However, Dr. Mariana Meireles was half an hour late (or more, I don't know, as I left before she arrived). I don't intend to return to this clinic.

My doctor was Sara Baltar and what an excellent professional and human being. Well done to you. Keep up the good work! Such a shame that I don't live in Porto anymore. Otherwise she'd have been my doctor forever.

In terms of customer service, my experience was good. However, unfortunately, the work itself left much to be desired, and the cost was quite high. The service was very quick, and certain areas still had tartar buildup, something I only noticed afterward (I see other comments with similar experiences). It's a shame that the quality of the service didn't match the standard of customer service.
