Friendly staff but hopeless service. Was left to wait for hours in reception while my wife was admitted and placed on a drip. (They forgot to tell me). If I hadn't enquired as to what was happening I would be still there waiting in the cold reception area suffering from influenza.

I unfortunately had an experience similar to Caitlyn Nairne's. I will do everything in my power to go to another hospital if I decide to have another child. I was not shown many different things to care for my son and as a first time mother I had no clue how to do anything properly. I spent nearly my entire stay there in tears and upon my discharge day the nursing unit manager was informed of my treatment by an independent auditor and the manager apologised for my treatment and was shocked at her staff's lack of support and care for both myself and my son. My husband was also asked to leave the unit at one stage due to a nurse informing him that "being in the room with a breastfeeding mum is inappropriate" (our curtains were closed so this was impossible and he was there to help me with the things they didn't help me with)....though it was OK for other husbands to stare at me while breastfeeding in the nursery???? In short I was spoken down to, checks on my son were forgotten, meals were missed being served, my son was never bathed until we demanded it, there was no staff consistency, one nurse left after being charged with the supervision of my premature son when he was barely an hour old, no assistance provided to show me how to hold my son or change him with tubes everywhere, he was left with a blister from a nasal tube being left on the skin for too long, no privacy at any stage was granted to us (either in the nursery or shared room), visitors to the nursery weren't consistently told to wash their hands, there was no doctor consistency so I had to tell my details over and over again, I heard nurses talking about a lack of knowledge, training and skills with duties and medications and witnessed this, the follow up care was pathetic if not atrocious....so many more things I could write! There is a very small handful of very helpful and beautifully supportive doctors and midwives, maybe they should be the standard not the other end of the spectrum. Upon discussing my story with family I've found that I'm not the only one who's got a story like this to tell about this unit.

I had my son at the hospital over two years age so i hope thing are better now. Being a young mum at this hospital was absolutely HORRIBLE! I was having a hard enough time due to the fact my son was almost a month early so the treatment i received made what should have been a memorable time into a stress full event. I was talked down to, was not given choices regarding my newborn ( i was told what to do and when to do it ). Honestly there was only one nurse there you showed me the respect i deserved and i am so grateful for her. It shouldnt have mattered how old i was, no one deserves that sort of treatment. Plus to top it of my son got sick at 3 weeks old and need surgery at 4 weeks due to needing a shot cause a midwife at THIS hospital turned up to work with hooping cough. ( hospital wrongly diagnosed him when he first got sick ). I wasnt treated any better on those ooccasions either. PLEASE if possible go to another hospital. I dont want anyone being treated the way i was. Everyone deserves RESPECT.

The Bathurst Maternity Unit Team are professional and have excellent, current Midwifery knowledge and clinical skills. Your care as a team for all pregnant women in Bathurst is appreciated. Go team... In 2017 we will reach 5,000 Births in the new and very modern maternity unit.

Have your baby anywhere but at Bathurst. One midwife will hand you your baby only moments after having puffed a cigarette. Another will be asleep holding your baby out the back which anyone will tell you is dangerous. They will be too busy to help you but you can find one on Facebook at the front desk if you approach from behind.

This hospital is not the best. I do not recommend to anyone. The hospital staff are not the best with their job, they do not take care of their patients properly. We currently have a family member in this hospital who is not doing very well and every time we call to get updates, the staff are telling us different reasons. The fact we can't even get updates about a family member who is not well is just very disappointing. How is a hospital like this still in business because to be honest I think a hospital like this should close down. This is really disappointing ๐Ÿ˜ก

Hospital Parking, I have seen today that another section of the parking has been taken off the staff and patients so for a car park for the NSW fleet vehicles which leaves me asking who came up with this bright idea as it is a disaster waiting to happen, Who is going to escort the nurses across the park or around the streets to their vehicles at night with out them being attacked by some low life also how are patients with walking problems or limited travel going to walk up the hill to go to wards or ED department. I have limited distance that I can walk which means I will not be able to pick up or deliver clothes to a patient so will you have a person to service the collection of dirty items and to return the clean ones seeing I will not be able to walk in with or for them after Monday due to lack of spaces. Will you be running a bus service around the streets to pick up or drop off disabled people or staff that have come to this so called hospital, what a great idea this is and the person who came up with a government car park over the needs of the local people should be removed for this..

The behaviour and attitude of some staff on the wards is pathetic!! So unprofessional. I was there recently and witnessed an alarm going off for one of the beds, and instead of staff moving to see what it was, they continued to have the whinge session around the counter!! A visitor approached the counter to ask a question and the nurse was so rude and then turned to staff and grunted and had a whinge about someone approaching her at the counter and not being able to get work done, and didnโ€™t care that the visitor could here all this!! People in hospital deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, and cared for- isnโ€™t that why you become nurses in the first place? To care for people? And visitors should be treated with respect and good customer service especially if they have been nothing but polite to staff!! Do better!!!!
