Amelia Street Dental Clinic is equipped with modern digital diagnostic technology as part of the Colosseum Dental Group's commitment to clinical quality across its UK network. The practice offers both 2D and 3D imaging, providing the clinical team with the diagnostic information needed to plan treatments accurately โ€” from straightforward restorations to more complex implant procedures requiring detailed assessment of bone structure and volume. Digital X-ray technology delivers high-resolution images with lower radiation exposure than traditional film systems, while digital tooth scanning supports orthodontic treatment planning and restorative work.

The clinic environment at 22 Amelia Street in Walworth is designed to be calm, clean, and comfortable, creating an atmosphere that reduces anxiety and encourages patients to feel relaxed throughout their visit. Full wheelchair accessibility ensures that the practice's services are genuinely available to all members of the community, while the multilingual capabilities of the team remove language barriers that might otherwise prevent patients from accessing the care they need in south London.

Why Choose Amelia Street Dental Clinic in London

Amelia Street Dental Clinic's membership of the Colosseum Dental Group provides patients with confidence in the clinical governance and quality standards that underpin the practice's operations. Colosseum Dental is one of the UK's leading dental groups, with an established track record of maintaining high standards across a large network of practices โ€” meaning patients at Amelia Street benefit from the best of both worlds: local, community-focused dental care delivered within a framework of national clinical excellence.

The practice's multilingual team is a significant advantage for the diverse communities of Walworth and Elephant and Castle, where a substantial proportion of residents speak languages other than English as their primary language. The availability of dentists and support staff fluent in Bengali, Cantonese, Hindi, and Spanish ensures that patients can communicate clearly and confidently about their health, their treatment, and their concerns โ€” a fundamental prerequisite for good clinical outcomes and a positive patient experience.

Financial accessibility is another key feature: 0% finance options through Tabeo and the Colosseum SmilePlan subscription allow patients to manage the cost of dental treatment โ€” including more significant cosmetic and restorative procedures โ€” without financial strain. This approach to affordability reflects the practice's commitment to making excellent dental care available to all patients in south London, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Patient Experience

Patient feedback consistently highlights the warm, attentive care delivered by the team at Amelia Street Dental Clinic. Reviews commend the friendliness of reception staff, the thoroughness and approachability of the clinical team, and the reassurance provided throughout treatments โ€” particularly for patients who are nervous about dental procedures. The practice's sedation options support those with significant dental anxiety, ensuring that even the most apprehensive patients can access the care they need in a safe and supportive environment in Walworth.

The clinical team at Amelia Street Dental Clinic includes Dr Freya Mortimer (GDC #264835), who joined the practice in 2016 after graduating from Newcastle School of Dental Sciences and focuses on delivering healthy teeth with beautiful aesthetic results, and Dr Mark Joseph (GDC #283925), who joined in 2019 having graduated from Dundee Dental School and has a specialist interest in cosmetic dentistry. Both dentists bring a patient-centred philosophy to their work, taking time to explain procedures clearly and ensure that patients are comfortable with their treatment plans before any work begins.

Amelia Street Dental Clinic is located at 22 Amelia Street, Walworth, London SE17 3PY, in the Borough of Southwark, south London. A year later and still no improvement on the phone answering service. I'd knock off the star if I could. Very disappointed in how bad the service has become. My actual dentist (Catherine) is amazing, could not be happier with her, but the practice itself is terrible! My appointment was cancelled 2 days before, and I was told I would be called back to rebook. I was never called back, I had to go in to rebook as the phones are never answered, the new appointment was then a month after the original booking. The phone has not been answered even once in the 15 plus times I have tried to phone over the last month. I have left a message every time and never once been phoned back. Very sad as the service before the change used to be amazing. Updated: They have had over a year since I posted this review, the manager contacted me to ask if I could give them some time to sort teaching problems. I tried to call again today, and yet again, no answer

Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Inappropriate Staff Behavior and Recurring Delay Issues - November 10, 2025 at 14:58.pm To the Management of Amelia Street Dental Clinic, Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to formally express my profound disappointment and distress regarding the unprofessional treatment I received from your reception staff today, November 10, 2025, and to address a recurring issue of appointment delays at your clinic. 1. Incident of Unprofessional Staff Behavior: My appointment was scheduled for14:44 PM. I encountered an unforeseen delay of just a few minutes due to a situation entirely beyond my control (the bus I was on was stopped because of a dispute with a passenger). I immediately tried to call the clinic to inform you of the delay; however, I was unable to reach anyone or get a prompt response, which added to my anxiety. Upon my arrival, I attempted to explain the situation to the receptionist seated in the middle chair at the front desk. Unfortunately, her reaction was completely unempathetic. She spoke to me in a disrespectful and arrogant manner. The situation was significantly worsened when the receptionist seated on the right-hand side of the desk intervened in an unprofessional way. This created a sense of being ganged up on and a very hostile atmosphere. I felt attacked from multiple sides and was unable to properly explain my perspective. I must emphasize that I am an individual with documented health and psychological conditions and am undergoing treatment. I can provide medical evidence to support this. This rigid and unsympathetic treatment had a severely negative impact on my well-being. 2. Recurring Delay Issues from the Clinic: I have also consistently experienced delays on the clinic's part. For example, if my appointment is at 2:30 PM, I am typically called in 10 to 15 minutes after the scheduled time. This is not an isolated incident but has occurred during previous visits. I find this to be a disrespectful waste of my time, especially given my health circumstances. Summary: In short, I had to deal with: 1. A recurring delay from your side. 2. Difficulty in reaching anyone by phone during an emergency. 3. Inappropriate and disrespectful treatment when I tried to explain my own brief, unavoidable delay. My Requests: 1. A formal, written apology addressing both the verbal disrespect I endured and the clinic's policy of recurrent delays. 2. A thorough investigation into the conduct of the mentioned reception staff and appropriate corrective action. 3. A clear explanation of the steps you will take to ensure patient appointment times are respected and phone service is improved. 4. A personal phone call from the managing director to discuss this matter. I trust you will handle this complaint with the seriousness it deserves and look forward to your prompt and respectful response. Sincerely,

I recently visited amelia Street dental clinic, the staff on entry were very polite and very helpful, the place itself is pristeenly clean , and the lady dentist i saw was professional and had a very friendly manner, I would recommend them to anyone ,I was surprisingly impressed , as I am not really a lover of going to the dentists. On my latest visit 01/09/25, once again my wife and I found it to be a pleasant experience, from the receptionists to the dentist and her assistant , all were approachable and friendly, and the treatment we received was to a high standard . I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them to anybody,. Thankyou much appreciated. Mehmet Balli.

DO NOT RECOMMEND!! First of all the lady at the reception with hijab is extremely arrogant, And the male working there seems like he has no idea what to do and heโ€™s just there for fun. I had to repay the entire band 2 because they claimed my first appointment was an emergency appointment, so i had to repay another ยฃ75 for the filling. I had to cancel my appointment because I couldnโ€™t make it and tried to call constantly. Firstly they donโ€™t answer emails, And I tried to call so many times to reschedule - itโ€™s been two weeks now and no one picks up the phone. They are super super lazy. Need to hire mew receptionists who arent so lazy getting paid to do absolutely nothing. Do you not go here please to avoid hassle. Need this place shut down

Just being two minutes late is enough for them to flip out, get defensive, block your account, and ignore you forever. Meanwhile, dentists here are allowed to run as late as they please, apparently, claiming their delays are justified and unavoidable by 'patients that can't be rushed.' Do they honestly think weโ€™re just out here relaxing, sipping cocktails on the beach and taking our sweet time? Itโ€™s a ridiculous excuse! Absurd! I am late because of a disability, and despite my social workerโ€™s efforts to inform them, they dismissed her, ignored the communication and gave me the cold shoulder - remarkable professionalism! Apparently, nothing says 'excellent service' like when these top-tier dentists decide to turn their back on me and neglect my needs โ€”brilliant work, dentists! what a shining example of care!โ€ฆ. A very disappointing treatment!
